Building The Patriots Big Board: Corners and Safeties

Jason McCourty too although he’s a little shorter, faster with a poorer shuttle

If they do draft Alexander and Reid we’d have the most athletic defensive backfield in the NFL.

Even a couple of the Pats current "backups" aren't too shabby ...

And they all tackle willingly and well (AFAIK, the last member of the Pats secondary who didn't was Asante Samuel).

ummm...Jonny Badmostly...ummm...Glitch Richards...

Note that I didn't include them.

Mr. B is no longer with us. And I'd really rather not have to consider Mr. Richards as part of the secondary in the future, which is why I'd like the Pats to draft a "real" safety like Reid this time around.

I'm warming up to Reid as a 4-position DB...but at 31, not 23.

23 is where I'm drafting either LVE or Rashaan Evans, with very very few exceptions.

Reid is a workout maniac. Look how much quicker and more fluid he is than most safeties. He's still 6'1 and nearly 210, but he doesn't lumber around like most big DBs. Love him at any secondary position for us. He's a leader on and off the field, and he took over 50% of his snaps last season at corner. He's a do it all type. I'm starting to think he might not even be available at 31 anymore. We'll find out tonight!

If Alexander's there at 23 I would take him. Reminds me of janoris Jenkins. I been seeing mike hughes in the first round as well. Might see more than 3 corners taken in the first round. Could see 4.

Alexander & Hughes look too fragile for me, especially at 23.

Alexander's very underrated in this draft.

I am kind of hoping we trade the number 31 for another second rounder and maybe a 3rd rounders. Teams that have multiple picks.
