Bruschi on tap: Lions vs. Pats

Not to be an apologist, but it's not a terrible thing that they got their lunch handed to them. They were looking stellar for 2 straight weeks (yes, yes, they're essentially practices). The problem with looking too good is gaining a sense of comfort and satisfaction, which leads to complacency. I guarantee the next two weeks of practices are going to be intense and fruitful. Albeit the coaches may look at it and not read into the poor showing because they were just trying to evaluate individuals (as opposed to schemes), but it's a perfect excuse for them to kick the players' arses in camp. Not that we shouldn't feel bad that individual players didn't execute very well on the field, but at least they got punched in the chin now rather than week 1 against a divisional rival. If they lose, it won't be because they became complacent.

And now that an established veteran like Sanders has been cut, no one should feel comfortable. They don't need to cut a guy like Haynesworth to send a message. Who thought Ty Warren and Sanders would be gone before camp started? Very few would have guessed.
