Broncos sign Aqib Talib

Honestly, good on Talib for getting paid. He just set himself and his family up for the rest of their lives and I can't blame him one bit. Even the biggest Pats homers on here would have done the same thing, nobody in that situation is turning down $56mil.

I think the younger 'more emotional' homers....the ones seen walking towards the Tobin bridge would probably play for free just to stay on their favorite team

But seriously, this was a bad business decision by the Donkeys.

I guess Broncos are going to hit the cellar in a few years. Putting all their chips on 2014 and the health of Talib. I don't even blame him for taking that. I'm guessing he's not averse to a little legal weed either.

Yeah they can have Talib for that contract all they want.

Whats Talib have left? 3 good years?

The signing bonus is all that matters, so Talib is making approximately 9 mil per season. Give me Revis instead. How much more would he cost per season?

I wouldn't have payed that to Talib but if we lose Edelman too then we need to respond in FA. Can't take being unable to sign both of our top FA's and lacking good picks up in FA itself.

Talib is not worth that money with his injury history and I'd have been mad as hell if the Pats had paid him that much.

I don't believe there is any chance that Revis is coming here either.

The Patriots will do what they always do and thats find a way to have somebody decent on the field and win the division and have another shot for no.4 for Bob, Bill and Brady.

With the money being thrown at CBs, why would you think Revis isn't coming here. At this point, I would trade for him and be willing just to convert his salary into bonus. You could convert a large part of his salary into signing bonus for the next few years and still make his contract manageable for the next two or three years.

Hey man. If you rather not goto the super bowlif it meant that you wouldnt win thats your chouce .

Cant win the superbowls you dont play in. Thats where i stand.

And they can't get to the SB without getting to the AFCCG and were been there 8 of the 12 seasons when Brady is playing. Last year we got there with the second youngest roster in the league.

Y! SPORTS

Part of the reason we have leads IA that there was also deaf money last season to account for, thus Lea to transfer over.

This is the final year that he counts against the cap though.

Thanks! Our cap situation will look great next season then. The Brady extension, Wilfork at a lower number if at all, Mankins the same the hike in money. But we'll have to pay McCourty and Solder too.

Man dude I hope it works out one way or another, hate getting my hopes up for nothing but it's hard not to with all this speculating going around.

There is no guarantees, but the CB market is catching up to Revis and his contract demands. Contrary to popular belief, the Pats aren't afraid to pay top of market deals. It is just usually to their own players (Wilfork, Brady, Mankins). I think Belichick loves Revis as a player. He might make an exception.

Denver can cherry pick free agents because they have drafted so well and they have this weird idea that better players can help teams win... very strange.

This realistically is why the pats continue to fail and be unable to get it all done. WHY did we lose the last TWO SB'S? Because we had a piss poor secondary (other than Samuel in 07....and god bless Rodney but he was in decline) that cot stop crap. Since the glory days of 01-04....Pats overall have had #*$! for players in the secondary.....would we all agree on that. I still recall saying almost every year that when we DID finally get a SHUTDOWN corner....or an elite CB...We damned better PAY THE MAN...and add more quality CB/safeties to the mix. QUALITY players....not Joe bag o' donuts from Stop and Shop

Talib is not a shut down CB.

Revis definitely is. Ricky Sherman is. Steve Smith ripped Talib a new one when NE played Carolina.

We had that guy in Talib...and they let him walk away....not just walk away...but to our biggest rival in the AFC. If they had worked on a contract earlier could have gotten it done. Now Denver keeps getting better..they are signing Ware too. It IS a big contract....everyone gets that. In my mind the guy has proven himself...and he DESERVED it. Now back to more mediocrity on Belichicks defense.....

2 years of Talib equaled 2 lost AFCC's.

Talib is one failed drug test away from a 1 year suspension. He is injury prone and getting old. No thanks on investing millions in the Danny Almendola of Corner Backs.

Revis is going to say that he loves to play for anyone who might pay him a huge contract when he becomes a free agent in about 9 hours. But I would assume if money is equal, he would rather play for a contender like the Pats than a bottom tier team like the Raiders.

Revis would probably play for the Celtics for 16 mill a year. Patriots just have to hope nobody out there throws out the big dough.

So all good corners gone, all the pash rushers pretty much or almost all gone. Man day 1 had all the legit players gone in a hurry.

Revis isn't gone. DMC isn't gone. Cromartie isn't gone. Thurmond isn't gone. Graham isn't gone. Lots of good ones left. Including the best one of them all, Revis.

Allen isn't gone. Peppers isn't gone. Ware isn't gone. Tuck isn't gone.

The Pats over the last three or four years has drafted just as well as the Broncos. The difference is other than Manning, their superstars haven't gotten past their rookie contract years. I didn't think they would, but the Broncos are mortgaging the future to win now. When they lose Manning and have to give monster contracts to Von Miller and the two Thomases, they are likely to be a middle of the pack team at best.

If the Broncos don't win the Super Bowl this year, they may have went all in holding full house and got beat by a royal flush.

We did not let him "walk away", he chose to walk away.. the Pats put an economic value on a position/player and to violate the overall economics of this team is negative....

Last year we did not let Welker "walk away", he had a better offer from the Pats, he rejected it, his agent overestimated his value and he signed for less in Denver..

As much as I like Talib, thought that signing him was risky, due to his hip issues and the amount of time he misses every year... if it has not gotten better, then it is probably getting worse.

My prediction is that he will be let go by Denver probably next year...

I said if the contracts were equal.

And don't count out the Pats trading for Revis either.

Supposedly the Jets have a mystery FA CB locked up.

Awful expensive now, but good thought.
