Keeping them on the bench is worse than taking on the dead money. You're paying salary on top of bonuses. And you're losing a roster spot. Of course, cutting them and eating the accelerated bonuses also blows chunks. Just a lose-lose situation. It really doesn't make sense to cut him or Juju money wise but I think people just don't want to see them out there. Parker I would rather have him just sitting on the bench but Juju just really annoys me and cap be damned I just want him gone. What difference does it make at this point? Just throw it on top of the $25 million with of dead cap we already have this year.
The Juju deal was bad enough but I really just can't over the Devante Parker extension this summer. Like why was that necessary? I know there were rumors Parker was pissy they made an offer to Deandre Hopkins but if Parker was pissed off, honestly, who cares? He is on the books next year for a $6.5 million cap hit and we would be stuck with almost $5 million in dead cap if he is a post-June 1st cut next year.Keeping them on the bench is worse than taking on the dead money. They need to critically re-assess the entire process behind the decision to hand out those contracts to those 2 players.
I'm not going to argue most of these, but these guys didn't get large enough contracts to kvetch about, and you need some veteran cheap players. [Every $10M guy requires about three players on vet minimum/rookie deals to balance out the cap hits.]This offseason/summer had to be Bill's worst since he came to New England. Letting Jakobi walk to give a very similar deal to a washed Juju. Extending Devante Parker for seemingly no reason. Not matching/beating a reasonable deal for Deandre Hopkins. Re-signing injured guys like Raekwon Mcmillian and Cody Davis for god knows what reason. The terrible moves at tackle between bribing Trent Brown to actually give a **** for the rest of the year. Overpaying Reily Reiff, who immediately moved to guard. Thinking Calvin Anderson could play and trading away our only fast/potential third down back for a tackle who has never played in an NFL game. Not addressing the backup QB situation as well as the Billy O 2.0 era being a failure so far. Just a mess after we thought last season was a disaster who would have thought it could get this much worse.
That's all well and good if they're playing but both guys were paid when they are still hurt. Hell, McMillan isn't even going to play this year for the second season in a row. We really needed to make sure a middling special teamer with 2 major injuries in 2 years has a secure spot? I am fine paying the Ty Mongomerty's and the Chris Board's of the world when they can contribute but signing those types of guys when they're hurt?I'm not going to argue most of these, but these guys didn't get large enough contracts to kvetch about, and you need some veteran cheap players. October 31Is there a Trade Deadline??
He often lines up at WR1 and that has resulted in a total of 129 yards so far this season. Yeah the money is great…but the issue has been and still is production. He is a progress stopper. Get him off the field and out of the way of the young guys. The young guys might suck but we already know Parker does. He is a 50/50 guy who doesn't win anything close to 50% of the contested passes that come his way.
This!!!!
The explanation for Bill's clear lack of urgency in retooling the offense might be as simple as...."What's the point".
We pound away at the keyboard typing: "Bill, give Mac better weapons so we can see what we got"
Bill likely knows what "we got" in Mac and he has decided it's just not worth building around a QB who is clearly not equipped to even marginally elevate an offense.
This coming offseason will be fascinating, regardless of Bill's status.
With so much cap space....aka Kraft bucks...... available, the real question is: Will Kraft open up the purse to support Mac or will he take a pass because he too has lost faith.
Bob dug deep two years ago with mixed results and despite his largesse, the team has since taken a major step backwards.
Bob does not strike me as someone who likes...
.......Bob opted for the...... at.................
A $5million dead cap is nothing when you have $97 million in cap space, and are in full rebuild mode, not expecting to win. Juju's dead cap is $28 million if he gets moved/cut this year, and normally I'd say it's ridiculous, but considering the cap they're going to have, it's not the worst. The Juju deal was bad enough but I really just can't over the Devante Parker extension this summer. Rookie QB took the Niners to the NFCCG just last year. So having a rookie QB does not necessarily doom a team.A $5million dead cap is nothing when you have $97 million in cap space, and are in full rebuild mode, not expecting to win. Not only is the team dead this year, they'll be bad next year as well with presumably a rookie QB.
A rookie QB with Deebo, Ayuk, Kittle, and McCaffrey, along with a coach whose offense everyone in the league has been trying to copy for years is one thing. A rookie QB in the Pats current situation is something else altogether.Rookie QB took the Niners to the NFCCG just last year. So having a rookie QB does not necessarily doom a team.
it is exactly the oppositeHe’s playing like crap, I would offer a 5th, nothing higher. He will be wanting a new deal soon, and he’s not going to get them to the playoffs. Given their needs I wouldn’t give up valuable draft picks for short term gain.
I said I would give a 5th, you said mid to late round pick, so I’m not seeing the disagreement here. What I was objecting to was giving up a 2nd. I would have given a 2nd before the Draft, but not now.it is exactly the opposite
we would get a young potential WR for mid round to late rd picks (just guessing the compensation) who can be a very good #2 or even #1
this is a deal for the future
these mid rd picks could easily bust out anyway so it is very worth the risk if the pats think jeudy can produce to his talent level
Jeudy is in year 4 of his rookie contract. Next year you would have to decide if you want to pay him or not. If he ends up being good, you are basically going to have to decide if one good year with you is worth all the inconsistencies and issues and pay him market value for a wide receiver OR let him walk effectively making the trade a one year rental.it is exactly the opposite

Or, the talent is not that bad around Mac, people have beat themselves in the head to make excuses all year for him, and people have ran out of ideas of why he keeps running out on the field every week when nothing changes. This has to be the dumbest posts I've ever read.
So because Mac is not good Bill decided to put together one of the least talented rosters in the NFL.
So that when he does replace him. There is absolute garbage around the new QB and to sabotage his own job?
