This is the tropeyist of off-season tropes: highly drafted but unpolished young QB is making progress...

Nice blast of hopium for the homers, but other than that, why bother writing it?

It's not like we'd ever see "highly drafted but unpolished young QB is a total klutz and a real knucklehead"...
Not until four years later, such as the reports on Fields.

Aren't there reports out of Chicago like that?

It's better than the opposite - "highly drafted but unpolished young QB is struggling."

Then there are some of the reports we see so far with Caleb Williams or Bo Nix - "highly drafted and also pretty polished young QB is struggling."

I thought I read Nix looked great?

I remember Mac, too. Mac had no pressure in college, to speak of, had the best college players in the nation around him. It wasn't until his Pats career began that he started getting pressure, and he has proven countless times that he isn't able to handle it. Maye is the anti-Mac. There isn't any comparison. Drake will stand up to pressure. He had his ass kicked by pressure consistently in college, and he handled it extremely well.
I only want him to start when his coaches think he should, but I think that Drake will thrive on pressure. Will have to wait, and see.

Sign me up for the hopium!

It's better than hearing how much our team sucked while we were enjoying the longest dynasty in NFL history.

I recall last preseason when Mac Jones was smooth as silk guiding the offense up and down the field.

Dropping dimes and spittin rhymes. Then, the real 2023 NFL season happened.

?? Jones was 6 of 9 for 52 yards and no touchdowns last preseason. 2 sacks. Everybody said the offense looked terrible.

I wonder what chaos looks like at OTA's in May?

It looks like this:

That roster is stacked.
If Caleb can’t play at a high level with that team
Than Daniel’s or Maye should have been the number 1 pick.
The fact Bill was reportedly 100 percent in on Daniel’s makes me feel we made the right choice.

Funny, I'm kind of the opposite now. I was excited when Mac won the starting job in 2021. Now I think maybe it'd be better if they let Maye sit for a bit rather than rushing him.
Having Brissett as the veteran alternative is much better competition than Cam. He provides a good safety net and raises the bar for earning the starting job.
