Breer: Patriots inquiring about #12 from Seattle

Schefter tweeted about 5 teams including the pats will move up if right guy is there at certain pick.

Who knows what Bill is going to do. We won't know until 8 tonight
actually I'd be thrilled if BB used both first round picks to trade up, if only it would save me about 3 hours of listening to the talking heads babble on about the draft

What's funny about this is that Chiefsplanet is talking about a rumor that the Chiefs and Cowboys will be trading, with the Cowboys going up to 11. The Cowboys are thought to be all about Barron in this draft, so this would be a bit of a situation....

Oh Pats won't get Barron. Someone will give up too much for him as usual

I'm sure somebody's already said this, but WHEN has Breer EVER been right about ANYTHING with regards to Patriots speculation?? Just saying, the guy is a dunce.

Whoa there tough guy are you seriously telling me our offense shouldn't hope to get 28 points a game in the playoffs with this defense?

First of all I'm not counting the Broncos game as anything impressive we played a joke of a quarterback who put his team into a hole early that he clearly couldn't get out of due to his inability to pass. 20 points to the Ravens should have been 27 with that idiotic drop by Lee Evans. I'm so HAPPY that he did drop that pass before you go calling me a Jets fan as it seems to be the case when anyone says anything negative about this team.

I went to the Super Bowl and I watched our Offense unable to get anything going in the first half primarily due to the AWFUL field position it was given for literally every single drive of the first half including the touch down drive that went 96 YARDS! Though the defense did not give up POINTS it cost us POINTS by making us have to drive 70 yards just to get a FG! Do you understand that points allowed isn't everything? Field position and time of possession matter no matter how much you do not want them to. Give Brady better field position, give him a few extra possession because we were able to stop the Giants before they chewed up 8 minutes a drive and we win that game easily.

I am so sick of people saying points allowed is all that matters.. it is when you play weak teams. You need to get off the field and give your best weapon TFB more possessions. If you think I'm an idiot for wanting our offense to score 28 points a game in the playoffs with this terrible defense I don't know what to say. Sure we can win games by scoring 21.. it's just nearly impossible to do with TERRIBLE field position and not enough possessions. You sir are the biggest idiot I have ever come across on this board.

EDIT: And another thing defense does win championships because the Giants defense gave Eli EXTRA possessions. You need to have some form of a defense that gets off the field to win in the playoffs, not a smoke and mirrors defense that gives up a FG every drive and allows 8 minutes to be chewed off the clock every drive.

Giants shortest drive in the SB was 9 plays. Patriot's defense didn't force a single 3 and out.....Yeaaaahhhh...

Draft defense.

The Barron hype really confuses me. In a league where teams are putting more WRs and more athletic TEs on the field at a time, the "once in a a generation" safety prospect is the least athletic first round safety prospect of the last decade? Yeah, he's instinctive. Instincts don't let you drop down and cover Welker in the slot when necessary.

If pats were trading up what do they have to gain by confirming the rumors? C'mon now guys...anything the pats say doesn't meet much.

I will feel so sorry for him when BB trades down. I have spent years getting excited when I hear news like this about the Pats...only to end up feeling like this by the end of the draft :bricks:

Even when it's a smoke screen it helps the team.

Remember 2008 when rumor leaked that Belichick was interested in a combine MONSTER by the name of Vernon Gholsten? There was a lot of talk that if he fell to the Pats they'd take him, and noting the Jets interest in him, there was some talk of Belichcik trading up to get ahead of the Jets.

In the end Jets fans chortled when they grabbed him before Belichick, who traded back to settle for a guy named Jerrod Mayo.

Or remember the rumor of the Patriots interest in D'brickshaw Ferguson? The Jets wanted him too perhaps and were worried enough about Belichick grabbing him that they expended one of their extra draft picks to move up and grab him.

Once again, my guess is that Belichick created these rumors in part to weaken his opponents.

I hope we draft defense and more defense. But if BB does trade up and picks up an OL, I wouldn't even blink. Expect the unexpected is my mantra tonight.

Draft defense.

I'm with you, even though the Patriots defense held the Giants to few enough points to win had they had maybe one more playmaker on offense.

But since I think they've picked that up and then some in free agency, I'm looking forward to a lot of defensive picks tonight.

That being said, if the Pats stay where they are with their first round picks, chances are there will be excellent value at OL and RB at the end of the first round, and I'm of the mindset that you can never have enough OL depth, especially with Brady as your QB

PHEW...BB didn't trade up to get Luck or Griffin III...
