Breer: Patriots inquiring about #12 from Seattle

I'm a Syracuse alum. Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy if the Pats landed Chandler Jones, but I don't get the "he's a top half of the first round talent" notion. Nice player, definitely a pro, will become a solid NFL player. But a wrecking machine at DE/OLB? I don't know about that. I am pretty sure I wouldn't trade up to get him.

Now, if the Pats do and he does become a wrecking machine, I will be happy to have been wrong.

Well, (1) I am happy the Pats got Jones; (2) he wasn't picked in the top half of the first round, so I'm ok with where he went; but (3) I didn't want to lose a pick to trade up to get him.

That said, I do think he'll be a solid NFL player and in the end, we'll be pleased he's on the Patriots.
