That can make preparing for the Patriots' defense a nightmare.
Here's an example: All last week, the Jets had to get their rookie left tackle, D'Brickashaw Ferguson, ready for the daunting task of taking on Seymour head up.
Yet, when the whistle blew, Seymour was outside the tackle and Wright was right next Ferguson on the head of guard Norm Katnik. So the challenge, for the Jets' stud rookie, was a little different than what he anticipated.
Now figure you're Ferguson. Playing an All-Pro's tough. Playing him a different way than you'd anticipated makes it tougher.
That's what this versatility gives you. It makes 4-3 and 3-4 interchangeable.
What Wright's emergence has done, to this point, is make the threat of changing fronts even more real to opponents.
I noticed Wright was the anchorman when he was in the game, when Jarvis rotated in, Vince was the anchorman - I'm referring to the guy who clogs the middle on passing plays to guard against draws. I haven't started a breakdown yet, but it looked like Wright was actually drawing double teams, even with Sey and Vince flanking him...
