Breaking News we got Stallworth..

didn't you guys have a hs teacher fill in on one playoff run?

I don't recall that
He's talking about the long snapper who was in for our 2003 playoffs. Brian Kinchen, former Brown with Belichick who left his teaching job for a few months to get a Super Bowl ring

yeah but 07 is a new season, what you did last year won't matter, gotta do it again right? ( i mean isn't that what you tell the colts?)

Chargers, Colts, and Pats were very close last year. The off-season "winner" among them, if they're a big winner, should be the early favorites to win next season.

The Pats are losing depth at TE and RB this off-season, big-time. The changes aren't all one-way. But I'm pretty happy with how things have gone so far even so.

If Samuel gets traded after a contract impasses, however, it will be a different matter.

Really? You followed Stallworth's progress? Sorry if I doubt your veracity. Especially when you say he's injured of causing problems half the time.

In his 5 years, Stallworth had missed 12 games. 3 his 1st season, 5 his second and 4 his 5th. 5 years is 80 games. 12 out of 80 isn't 50%.

Now about his arrest last year. What was the RESULT? Resisting arrest without Violence? A citation for expired tags? Did he go to court? Or did he get off with a slap on the wrist?

What other problems would you like to add?
pretty much just the hamstring problems and the arrest

i'm just saying i think there's a reason he was a FA, that's all

i know it's your job to defend him, he's your player now.

I have to admit this was kind of a letdown. After the frenzy on, what, Tuesday or Wednesday, they go and get this announced while I'm asleep. Bastards.

Exciting news, though. Getting a fast WR on that field turf will make a big difference and also should really open things up for Maroney too.

if you guys are the sb favorite going into the season, that will be a feather in your cap, colts were leading into the 06 season and we all saw how that crap turned out

Not sure about that, his potential signing of about the same contract was very popular here before we had any idea he'd sign with us.

hey i'd probably be happy as a pig in **** too.

It's more than that. When Thomas and Welker have been interviewed and have explained why they wanted to be Pats and they think they utterly fit in to the attitude and philosophy here, each of them has sounded utterly credible.

Not just credible as in being believable, but also as in showing real understanding of the team culture.

ince then, they've signed 4-10 (including udfa).
FWIW - The Patriots signed 18 UDFAs in 2006. And I'm pretty sure that the Pats signed around that number of UDFAs each and every year.

The 18 were
Jon Doty, Patrick Cobbs, Jakari Wallace, nose tackle Remi Ayodele(Oklahoma); Center Brian Barthelmes (Virginia); Quarterback Corey Bramlet (Wyoming); Cornerback Vernell Brown (Florida); Wide receiver Erik Davis (Vanderbilt); Defensive end Kader Drame (Syracuse); Offensive tackle Randy Hand (Florida); Safety Jarvis Herring (Florida); Safety Keon Jackson (Toledo); Linebacker Corey Mays (Notre Dame); Linebacker Freddie Roach (Alabama); Wide receiver Matt Shelton (Notre Dame); Safety Sam Smith (Delaware State); Cornerback Gemara Williams (Buffalo); Linebacker Pierre Woods (Michigan).

you'll have the answer at the end of the 07 season if you're this years redskins or not

get happy now, but , not one single game has been played yet.

i'm just surprised you guys are getting so happy over free agent signings, it seems so unlike you, i guess it's because it's been a while since you made a 'splash'
You can't rain on our parade.

We loved that 2002 WR draft. We had Givens and Branch, we now have Stallworth, Caldwell, Gaffney - all from the same draft. Crazy.

eh, turner's never had a team that he didn't inherit at 4-12 so the jury's still out on him, beats having the biggest choker ever as our head coach though.

Really? The jury is still out? In his entire career as an HC, Turner has 3 winning seasons. All with the Redskins. His best season was 10-6. The other 2 seasons were 9-7 and 8-7-1. I don't count his last season with the Skins where he was fired before the end of the season.

i hear ya, that's the sense i get when i hear my players talk too, it's not hard to buy into at all

we modeled the way we run the organization on the way the pats do it, if it wasn't for marty we might have even had something to show for it, man i hate that guy haha

that was amazing, and i remember charger fans getting mad that we cut rodney but i was telling them, man we couldn't have made rodney play as good as he played in that sb vs the eagles, on his best days in sd

that's just superior coaching right there, you guys really turned rodney around.

Yeah. That kind of coaching superiority makes it realistic for guys to sublimate their egos and be all about team.

The number of exceptions we have to that every year seems very low, and even then not too bad -- basically, a couple of guys annoyed about their contracts who do all the right things football-wise but grumble a bit.

E.g., Branch took a very nasty stance financially, but until the off-season where he held out, he was the consummate pro. Ditto, albeit less so, Vinateri. Samuel is a bit the same way, and I'm worried it will not end well financially -- but I am NOT worried he'll be a problem in any other way.

Ahhh. Thanks.

I bet that dude won't have much trouble disciplining a classroom in the future.

i'm just saying he took over a couple 4-12 teams

he's actually getting comparisons to belichik lol, it's hilarious

like i said, jury's still out , but you know what you heard about bb coming to NE , they looked at his work in cleveland and just laughed at him till he proved himself.

jury's out on norv, but if he messes up a 14-2 team, then yes, he's worse than marty

(if you do research on his coaching jobs though, you'll see he has never had so much to work with, as he will in 07)

team chemistry is pretty important too, but i mean, these guys all may mesh together well, we'll see

it's just funny how you guys used to laugh at teams who "won free agency" because they were all excited without even playing a game.

Those teams stunk before free agent signings. We were good before ours. There is a difference.

Good catch by Reiss who noticed that Stallworth is actually 26, not 28 as reported in ESPN.Com article.

Stallworth's deal isn't too far off what we offered Branch. Same age. Abouut the same number of games missed. Very similar career numbers. Stallworth and a #1 for Branch - thanks Deion.

the cool thing this seems to let the pats do is draft BPA

hell they may even make a package deal to move up and get laron landry, now that would be a great move.

The Pats draft by best value available according to their scouting. Not according to any other scouting service.

The value takes into consideration the level of team need, the player's physical attributes and his intangibles.
