Brandt: You don't win titles with players like Welker

Not me. In 2001, our #1 was Troy Brown, our #2 was some Arena League guy who was out of football (Patten) and our #3 was Fred Coleman.

And we won a superbowl.

He wasn't necessarily speaking of Welker as a WR. He was referring to the type of player Welker is. A gritty and gutty over achieving type of player. He was saying at some point your team has to have a few exceptional players on it to win a SB.

yikes!............I think Brandt meant to say Wendell Wilkie, not Wes Welker.

See Peter King's MMQB for some football sanity.

It was still a stupid thing to say. Every team needs players like him on it.

THere's no basis for saying that. So no super bowl winning team has had a player of little talent and good character like Welker? But wait, he said he was a "good player". So that means he does have some talent, right? So I don't get it. No SB team has won with a player who is "good" but perhaps overachieving?

Brandt should be beaten senseless for this stupidity.

Actually, he has a point. To this point in NFL history no team has managed to win the Superbowl with Wes Welker on the roster.

You win titles with players like Dexter Reid.
Don't, I'm still tender!

Charles Johnson was the #3. But he is forgotten because of Coleman. WHY? Who knows.

...and you don't win SB's with QB's who fall to 199 in the draft...
