Brandon Spikes Video

A savvy lawyer can claim lots of things, but we're not talking about insurance liability here, we're talking about criminal behavior. Besides, in most cases where this is even considered a separate statute is required that expressly prohibits you from leaving your keys in an unattended car.

But that's beside the point, and is attacking the analogy when the argument is not applicable to the true issue at hand. It is predicated on Spikes having an expectation that his chat would be recorded, which seems unreasonable without more information.

I agree. There is not enough information about the Spikes incident. It has been posted that this particular on-line service didn't start up until 2009 limiting the time line when it occured. I don't know how much of an expectation to privacy he had either.

Then why is BB still the coach? He is suppose to set the example, but yet he cheated on his wife?

you have no evidence of that ... none.

People remain married for many reasons and love is not always one of them.

Some people stay married but live separate lives ... some stay married as friends until the kids are grown. Where's the concrete evidence that he cheated on his wife which is laughable comparing that to Spikes playing with himself in the video.

I wonder how many in this thread are commenting but have not seen the videos ... at least watch them for historical reference to the discussion.

He doesn't look innocent and it doesn't look like it's love.

He looks wasted, arrogant and smug ... it's kind of creepy to me.
Definitely not your average guy does some porn here ... hard to explain.
he looks to be enjoying the video way more than the sex act itself.

IMO of course ... always IMO.

Unintentional vs intentional ... no comparison.

She intended to shoot the video. Obviously with the intent it would be viewed, probably by an audience of only 2 -- her and her boyfriend. She did not intend for it to be seen by her students.

He intended to be seen having sex by only two other people. He did not intend for it to be seen by an wider audience other than the other pair that he was watching as well.

You're holding Belichick and everyone else to a completely different (and arbitrary) standard than you're holding Spikes to. Either way, you're welcome to all the heavy-handed moral judgment you want, but don't be surprised to see that Kraft has enough sense to keep from doing the same.

I think a lot of this is a complete misunderstanding of what chatroulette is. It's for chatting with strangers, yes, but it is for private discussions with strangers. That's the whole point. Say whatever you want about the wisdom of doing what he did--and even claim that you never did anything stupid in your early 20s, if you have too--but the bottom line is that that was a private video that someone else recorded and made public. It was made public without his knowledge or permission.

it's his team ... and we all have our own opinion.

Why does everyone keep bringing up Belichick compared to this?

My suggestion to anyone commenting on the thread is to watch the video ... it's creepy.

without his permission ... fine.

without his knowledge ... I say watch the video ... he made it to be watched. IMO.

We've all done dumb things ... but few of us get to be one of the faces of a pro sports team.

No thanks. Why would I? I didn't watch the Erin Andrews tape that got leaked, definitely not going to watch this one. I don't want to watch any tape that was recorded without the knowledge of the participants, for the explicit purpose of exploiting them. It's just none of my business, and the fact that some criminal decided to make it public doesn't make it my business.

He made it to be watched by one person. It was a private video that got leaked. This isn't a difficult distinction to make, I dunno why you're having so much trouble with it.

You watched the video?! YOU watched porn?!

I thought the whole moral outrage was the fact that Internet porn existed and its availability to our children.

But those who watch porn are just as responsible for its proliferation across the Internet as those who create it.

You are as much at fault as Spikes.

I call upon Kraft to ban you from the stadium and for Goodell to prohibit you from watching any NFL game on TV.

It is porn watchers like you who give all NFL fans a bad reputation and who disgrace fans everywhere.

You are a creep and disgrace to all self respecting Patriots fans.

Goodell can do nothing here. NOTHING.

No, he can't but I do believe that if Spikes undertakes a career in porn (which by all accounts he won't) is now unemployable as not a single NFL owner would want to have him on their gameday roster. It's bad business.

With that said, porn is a billion dollar business and is now about as mainstream as a sit-com.

Pretty interesting dichotomy actually.

Totally BS. Ravens have a murder on their team. Steelers have a rapist. Eagles have a dog killer. Dolphins have pothead. Jets have a deadbeat dad.

Spikes employability in the NFL will rise and fall based on what he does between the hash marks. Not on whether he spends the off season staring in porn flicks.

Don't forget the teabagger on the Colts.

What's his porn name?

I'm liking the levelheadedness of your posts hoodie. You sure your not the real BB.

Only thing about the video situation that annoys me is that it exists. I would obviously rather a scandal free team. But he didn't do anything illegal so i so people need to temper their calls for his head a little bit.

On a personal level, I could care less about any of those guys or what they have done but that's besides the point.

With the exception of Cromarite, you have cited singular instances of poor conduct that the league has taken action against. Let me restate my position....

I stated in my post that a player who undertakes a career in porn (as in does a bunch of films a year) will not be employable in the NFL. Porn, right or wrong is still taboo (no pun intended) to millions of people and has proven to be interwoven into drugs and organized crime. Thats the perception people have. If you don't believe that, I don't know what else to tell you.

I don't get the outrage in this thread. He didn't murder, rape, beat a woman, or even get a DUI. He engaged in a consentual sexual act while he was in college. What is the problem? Aaron Hernandez and Brandon Tate both popped drug tests before the draft. Brady dropped his girlfriend whom he may or may not have known to be pregnant. Why aren't people calling for Robert Kraft to cut them?
