Brandon Bolden - What am I missing?

As long as he's not a returner, I like what I have seen from Bolden. Maximum effort, and solid (not spectacular) in all areas. He does play special teams. I would not risk him passing waivers. I think he has solidified his spot on this team.

Personally I think that Bolden could pass waivers just fine, there are many other RB's with his type of skillset who will likely be cut around the league. I didn't see so much from Bolden that would make me feel as though other teams would be clamoring for his services, but then again I'm not 1/2 as smart as our talent evaluators

Obviously, that's just my opinion and you may be a lot closer to what the truth is. We'll have to see what the coaches think.

Of all the offensive players I have earmarked for the 53 man roster, Brandon Bolden is the one player that is closest to the bubble.

I agree. I would also throw in Schiancoe too, but that would depend on some other variables such as his injury, whether or not they would like to keep 4 TE's, and their feelings with Ballard's situation (even though it's probably not very likely that he could play this year).

Either way, when you take Schiancoe's lost money into acct, Bolden is definitely the closest one to the bubble, or at least I would imagine.

I think there just comes a point when we can no longer really have much of a read on how some of these decisions are going to go, since there are just too many variables that we aren't privy to.

At this point, Belichick gets paid handsomely to make the best calls so that's what we have to put our faith in. Some of the choices we will like, and some we won't.

Shiancoe has done nothing to earn a spot on the 53 man roster. Shiancoe did not even play in one preseason game and has not been seen on the practice field since the first week in training camp.

Shiancoe's $400K signing bonus is chump change compared to the dead money cap hits of Ochostinko and Fanene.

Brandon Bolden >>> Shiancoe, especially considering that Shane Vereen was injured in the Tampa Bay preseason game.

I hope Bolden goes to the practice squad, but I wouldn't keep him on the 53 even if I thought he wouldn't make it to the PS. We're not losing much by letting him go. He's an average back who may or may not be in the league in 2 years. If we have injury problems there's any number of roughly equivalent street FAs we could pick up to fill in the gap.

I'd rather have Shiancoe. He's actually proven he's effective NFL player and it would be much more difficult to find a quality receiving TE in the case one of our studs got hurt.

I swear bill makes him return punts just to show the scouts how bad he is so we can sneak him to the PS

Yeah, he probably orchestrated that move where he was lying on the ground with the ball between his knees not making any move to retrieve it (luckily Demps was there to scoop it up).
