KFFL.com reports:

Eagles | M. Lewis would not consider boycotting voluntary minicamps
Wed, 7 Jun 2006 07:52:00 -0700

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles SS Michael Lewis is entering the final year of his contract, but would not consider a boycott of the team's voluntary minicamps. Lewis said, "My agent [his brother, Rodney Williams] talked about it, but I said, 'You know what? That's not the route I want to go. I'm thankful for this Philadelphia organization taking me when they drafted me. Why would I not want to show up and show my appreciation for them? If it doesn't work out, then it doesn't work out. That's just the nature of the business."

The Patriots set the precedent for this sort of behavior by giving in

to Richard Seymour last year. When you do this with one player, others

are sure to follow. Unfortunately for Branch, he is nowhere as good as

Seymour.

I hope Branch does read this. And I believe he WON'T miss the mandatory camp. If he does, that would be pretty disappointing. He seems better than that.

So, the Patriots gave in to Richard Seymour by doing the same thing to him that they did to Rodney Harrison, Bobby Hamilton, Anthony Pleasant, and Roman Phifer? Giving him a minor pay-raise because he's outgrown his contract.

Be honest, has Branch outgrown HIS contract? I don't believe he has.

An NFL.com piece said this was about Dawkins, not Lewis.

Branch's salary for 2006 is $1,045,000. I would consider this as being vastly

underpaid for a #1 receiver and probably a #2 receiver and #3 receiver as

well.
