I have been thinking about this for a while now and it is really starting annoy me. So many times we hear about how many times Brady has defeated Manning, that Brady outplays Manning head to head. While Brady holds a formidable edge head to head, that is a meaningless statistic. That stat is Manning versus Belichick, not Brady, and we all know that isn't a contest.
The only meaningful comparison is how they fare against common opponents. Now I haven't looked that up, but that is how one makes an accurate comparison. Brady never plays the Pats defense (in a regulation game) so there is no way to compare Brady's superiority against Denver or Indianapolis' coach to how Manning fares against Belichick.
All it is is gibberish aimed at making someone click and read an article. Overall stats are much more meaningful than head to head stats.
