From ProFootballFocus:

"Dallas blitzed on only nine out of 45 pass plays. Brady was 7 for 9 for 108 yards and a QB rating of 153.7."

I am soooooooooo thankful that teams don't give up on blitzing number 12. :biggrin2:

What I can't understand is... why would they EVER do it?!?!?!

Because if you blitz and rush with the right kind of players Giants Ravens and Jets happens.

I disagree when those teams have had success vs Brady the key has been getting pressure without Blitzing.

Beat me to it. I don't know the numbers, but I remember VERY few blitzes in either the Jets loss last year or Super Bowl 42. That was precisely the problem, pressure while still having 7 guys back to cover 4-5 targets.

It really depends on the personnel, but it seems to me that the best thing for any team to do would be to mix it up at least a little bit. Hopefully you can disguise your coverages often enough that you confuse the QB and hopefully get a couple of turnovers.

If you never blitz you end up with what happened to Jacksonville in the 2007 playoffs, when Brady completed over 90% of his passes. Or you should be able to run the ball effectively, like the Pats did against the Jets. Blitz all the time and somebody's going to not only be open, but faster than the guy covering him. We saw the same thing for years with teams trying to defend against Peyton Manning too.

Too many armchair HCs/fans of other team seem to think 'all you have to do is hit Brady'; well duh, you can say that about pretty much every NFL quarterback. The trick is finding the personnel and a plan to get to the QB before the receivers get open. That's a whole lot easier said than done.

There's only 1 way to beat Brady. Getting pressure with just the front 4 and drop 7 plus jam the receivers. It's not rocket science. But the problem is executing it is really hard.
