Brady, on why he wants to play in the preseason: “I really enjoy those preseason games. Last year, it just didn’t unfold that way, and that’s unfortunate that I wasn’t able to be there (because of a foot injury). That really could’ve helped me out with my timing in that first game. You never know if I could’ve avoided that hit I took with a better presence in the pocket. … I want to be out there, involved in game planning in the preseason, and that’s what you need to go through to be ready for the opening game. … We’ve got four preseason games. If I play in all of them, I’d be happy with that.”
Brady, on the grueling preseason schedule: “(Coach Bill Belichick) has got the right formula for what he’s looking for. We’re starting this year with, like, 10 straight two-a-days, which is something different for all the guys. We’re going into our fifth today, but we got to keep our heads down and understand that we’ve got to be getting a lot out of practice.”
Brady, on the AFC East and this season: “There’s a saying that in order for things to stay where they need to be, things are going to have to change. Bill Belichick has been here over the last 10 years, and we’ve constantly had to change and evolve as a team. We realize we face a tough situation in a tough conference that’s much improved from even last year. Miami won the division, Buffalo has made a bunch of improvements, the Jets feel like they are much better. We feel like we’ve worked hard this offseason to hopefully be in position of identifying some of the weaknesses we’ve found (last year) and turning them into strengths.”
