any updates on the NE 8??? Besides Charles IR Mortenson DNP....

yeah..Ventrone didnt get an INT like he hoped because Henson "stares down" his WRs

AN interesting OT game...and...

Roehl dominated Cooper, a DE out of Ol' Miss. He had what might be one bad play on a sweep where he chipped the DE and let him through to hit the RB, but I suspect QB/RB timing had as much to do with it. Amsterdam used a less complex blocking scheme then they did the past two weeks and dominated the Galaxy at the line.

Musinski caught 2 and dropped 3, wet conditions had everybody dropping and fumbling the ball on both teams. Musinski was the most consistently open WR, I think he needs a lot of time with the jugs in poor weather to get his glove choices correct. He had a nice play as a wedge buster on STs, breaking through to grab the KR by the ankle and holding him up long enough for a second tackler to line up and knock the ball free. No tackle, but he disrupted things nicely. He does try to block and needs a lot of work, Dabol should have something to work with here.

I'll catch you up on Ventrone, Zuriel Smith, Steitz, and Spann after I watch that tape.

Did you see any of the Cologne Rhein game??

I'm having trouble with the upgrade and just lost everything I wrote you

Quick summary through three quarters: Complaints about Ventrone are misplaced - The Fire went away from him consistently, less then a handful of plays went at him. His play the previous two weeks made an impression on the Fires' coaches, and they won the game....

Steitz had a battle with a 313 lb Colorado State boy who has been bumming around the league on several teams trying to make a roster. He did pretty good, two poor plays, but overall, he was a force on the line again and continues to work for that Practice Squad slot.

Smith: Z had two nice returns (1 punt. 1 kick), if he keeps that up he will give Bethel a challenge. A couple catches and a nice block - he gets used a lot to clear out the defense for another receiver.

Spann didn't show up on screen, though I know he was in for some special teams.

Quick note on the final quarter:

Ventrone: Continues to impress, even though he did give up a long reception on an underthrown ball. He was trying too hard to keep up with the burner (I don't know what the coverage was that left him alone on a fats WR) and wasn't able to adjust to the underthrow as fast the WR. He had tight coverage on a WR in the endzone that looked good. They ran to his side one more time and doubled him with an OL and a TE! He made a really nice play slicing in from SS to bring down the RB who was scooting behind Rhein's blocking wall.

Steitz looked like he tired for a bit, then got a second wind and was knocking people around, including taking Ventrone out twice. He needs to work on his cut blocks.

Smith showed up blocking as Rhein worked to eat the clock with the run, nice job. One decent punt return.

Spann came in as the nickelback and did pretty good, though he got behind a WR on one play where a S came underneath for a pick to save him. He made a sweet open field tackle to end the game, sticking the WR and leaving him on the ground trying to breath.

Agree

Box, I agree about the long pass that Ventrone gave up. It really wasent his fault. He had tight one on one coverage with a fast receiver (not easy for most safeties) and just got unlucky that the ball was so underthrown. An underthrown ball like that really favors the receiver because he sees the ball first and can make the adjustment before the DB can. To me, it seems like they stayed away from throwing to his side for the most part. I thought he he played a pretty good game overall.
