Sorry guys, I know most of you must be a Red Sox´s Fan, but i have to be honest with you, in Europe nobody gives a crap about that sport. Even around the World, only in Central America and in some parts of Asia, like Japan, baseball have his supporters. As i already wrote in here the most known American Franchises in the World are the New England Patriots, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, LA Lakers, Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls because of Michael Jordan. The NY Yankees are the most famous baseball franchise in the World, where the sport is appreciated. Boston Red Sox come in 2nd and Los Angeles Dodgers 3th. In Europe 99,9% of the population don´t know or care about baseball.


Well a lot people can say, hey but Table Tennis, Field Hockey and Cricket are in the top 10 most popular sports in the World. Yeah, considering that China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh are almost half of the World´s population (+- 3,5 billion), you do the math. Football (soccer for you Americans), Basketball, Tennis and some other sports are more spread around the World than any other sport. The big difference is that Football (soccer) have around +- 3,5 billion fans.


Who cares about The Red Sox, when Boston is most KNOWN around the World because of the New England Patriots or the Boston Celtics. Really? The only difference between The Boston Celtics and the New England Patriots is that last ones have huge mass of fans spread around the World not only because them being connected with the city of Boston or the state of Massachusetts, but because of what they represent to the fans around the World. The Patriot Way, Boston Tea Party History and DO YOU DAMM JOB!

Well, if there's one thing that deflategate confirms...is that Boston is truly indeed a football town, and NE a football region.... you barely hear a word about the Red Sox these days.

I was forced to go to a game a few weeks ago. My son got 4 tickets and asked me to go so I couldn't say no, and I had to try and act like I enjoyed it. I did okay with that but it was difficult.

On October 18, 1999, the Red Sox were trailing in the ALCS to the NY Yankees, 3 games to 1.

On that same night, the 3-1 Dallas Cowboys squared off against the 2-3 New York Giants on Monday Night Football, an out of conference game between 2 teams that were not expected to contend for the Super Bowl (Cowboys finished the season 8-8, Giants 7-9). The Cowboys won this scintillating match-up 13-10.

Later that week I read the sporTView column (written by Jack Craig) in the Globe like I did most every week. In the Boston market, the football game got a substantially higher rating than the Red Sox game. (Sorry, I can't find the specific ratings.) Although I grew up primarily a baseball fan (living and dying with the 1967 Impossible Dream Team as a kid), I watched the football game. Personally, I couldn't stand to watch the Red Sox lose again to the Yankees (as I was sure was going to happen). I did check in on the game every half hour or so just to see how it was going. Maybe there were a lot of others like me that "didn't have time for the pain". But that being said, I enjoyed watching the football game more than I would have liked the Red Sox game (unless they had a 5 run lead in the 8th ).

After that experience, I knew football was king in the Boston market regardless of any pronouncements by the Globe (which has always been a Red Sox newspaper long before they were partially owned by the Red Sox). It's only gotten better for the NFL/Patriots and worse for MLB/Red Sox.

The funny thing is this past week I have begun to wonder if people in the Boston area even remember they have a baseball team. The Red Sox are the forgotten man for the last month.

The Red Sox suffered one of their worst losses today - giving up 10 runs in 1 inning. And yet, when I tune into WEEI, no one, and I mean no one, seems to care about this epic meltdown. They've been talking about Deflategate for the last three hours - and to be honest, I wish they would discuss the Red Sox more. I need a break from Deflate Gate.

I'd prefer to watch espn deflategate coverage on an endless loop over anything redsox.

Well to be honest this was probably the biggest day in the saga so far and red sox are just absolutely horrendous, can't blame them for not wanting to talk about a game between two of the worst teams in baseball.

Also WEEI is under no obligation to the red sox other than broadcasting their games the same way 98.5 is to broadcasting Patriots games. It's not like they are owned by Henry or anything.

Still love the Red Sox no matter what. We have had some fun times over the years with some bad ones in between.

But please Globe, don't try to tell me who I favor when it comes to our sports. It's like trying to say the Sox were the team of the decade during the 80s when there was a 30 year waiting list for Celtics season tickets.

This Patriots team is simply greatness. Worthy of all time dynasty magnitude. Imo overshadowed the Red Sox winning their first World Series in 86 years.
However I give them both props for being part of the great run of championships we have grown accustomed to.

But no. It's not a baseball town anymore for a lot of us I think.
