I ONLY listened to a few minutes..BUT that was enough....
Borges commented on..
---Saying.they signed all receivers in sight making a remark that they should have signed legendary HOF Don Hudson...
---Also saying the Patriots realized they made a big mistake about Branch in NOT signing him..(They DID make a mistake in that..basically not making signing other WRs not in caviung into Branch)
----Also about the Franchise tag..in saying that the Patriots should realize that though it is a weapon they should NOT always use it...
---Saying basically that teh Patriots "rubbed his (AS's) nose in it"...(Gee getting paid in the top 5 of a position = to rubbing one nose in it?? pure Borges bologna...He should not only have his nose rubbed in it but forced down his BIG mouth...

As is usually the case, and was his downfall, Ron makes some valid points and then squanders them by hopping onto his agenda laden soapbox. If not for that habit he likely wouldn't have drawn the kind of attention that resulted in his plagerism debaucle.

They should have signed Branch sooner, or at least realized sooner that they couldn't. Cost them #4 in 2006 most likely. Believe me, they know that. I think they know what they are doing with Asante, they just haven't seen fit to share that information with the masses or the media just yet. I don't think they are taken aback by this players approach as they apparently were by Branch's.

But how often have we always used the franchise tag??? Kickers don't count, Ron, and we only used it on him once officially since the other time it was used to buy a week's grace to get a 3 year deal done. Used it on Tebucky 5 years ago to facilitate a trade that we never regretted (although I believe NO and eventually Tebucky did). WTH else have we tagged save a CB who is so deluded he now believes he's worth Champ Bailey money?

I thought Asante's agent said they were honored to be viewed as a franchise tag player and would remain so so long as he wasn't actually expected to play under it? LOL

You just get the sense with Ron that it gauls him to no end that even when this team "screws up" they finish the season a minute short of another SB. For a guy who has been warning us for 6 years now that they were playing with fire, and on the verge of hating their coach and exiting en mass, it really has to stick in his craw when players FA stand in line to sign on here and rank and file players say oh well, we'll move on and play with the guys who show up.

I don't miss bogus at all. Felger and Bogus together...good thing i didn't hear it while driving near a cliff

Borges is such a fool his disdain of BB, clouds any possible voice of reason in any commentary on the Patriots whether it be on the airwaves or in print. He should be dismissed readily.

I ONLY listened for a short bit....and do so ONLY until I wish to barf...thatw as in a 5 minutes segment..so ONE CAN imagine how bad he was...THAT is my rule..I listen to Felger for a few minutes until I wish to barf..an dthen listen elsewhere... And sometimes I will not listen at all...

I listened to the 890 Patriots segment with Borges and didn't find any fault. This board does frustrate me at times. If anyone has anything to say about the Pats, short of annointing them the greatest team past, present and future, they get toasted on this board. A recent example was the thread titled "King rips Pats Again". In his power rankings he picked the Colts as #1, but conceded that the best team in the NFL next season will be either NE, SD or Indy. That counts as bashing the Pats on this board. I find both Borges and Felger refreshing. I don't always agree with them but I find their points valid. Sure Borges hates BB,but other than that he makes cogent arguments. So what if he ripped BB for picking Seymour over Terrell, he was wrong. The team we all are fans of is not perfect. They have weaknesses and these two don't mind pointing them out. Big deal, at least they are talking football in June.

12-4 Offense up by 18. Would Deion have played LB or safety?

I heard him today. He blasted John Tomase for using an unnamed source for his article about teams being interested in Asante Samuel. The same guy who used an "Unnamed AFC Executive" when he wrote the piece to trash the Adalieus Thomas signing is trashing Tomase for using unnamed sources.

To Felger's credit, he called out Borges for doing the same thing to trash Belichick.

I also found Borges comments interesting about the Globe interesting. He really didn't say all that much except that he cancelled his subscription to the Globe a long time ago and no one reads the Globe anymore, but the way he said it seems to be more to his saga with the Globe than we may even be speculating and that the Globe and Borges may have been at odds longer than we all think. Then again, I may be reading too much into it.

With HFA that might not have been an issue. Of course, had we made one more first down on the road it might not have been either.

.

Borges' biggest problem is that he is unprofessional. He *does* have some insight on the game of football, but he allows his (bad) personal relationship with BB to cloud his opinion of the Pats. Tragic mistake on his part. Such unprofessionalism separates the men from the boys.

Must be using a hearing aid and missed some of the drivel...

That's a load of crap. An intelligent, insightful comment on the Patriots will get the respect it deserves. A reporter or columnist who does nothing but rips the Pats no matter what they do will get the ridicule he deserves.

Borges listed Adelius Thomas as the #1 steal in this season's free agent class. Then when the Patriots signed him, he criticized that move. If that doesn't show you someone with an agenda, I don't know what does.

There is nothing "refreshing" about a guy who does nothign but criticize.

Yea, I'm sure he's really hurting for cash.

I agree that some on this board are hyper sensitive to criticism. But looking at the King thread as one example, and the only one you cited, what you are doing is akin to slamming an entire article for something the headline writer said. Most in that thread acknowledged that King's article was not a rip, but rather more disappointingly shallow, illogical drivel from a long standing, well connected national football writer who should know better. Much the same as the indefensible drivel Rich Gosselin spewed in the Dallas Morning News last week.

The same can be said for much of the Patriots talk on 890. Felger is only refreshing if you are immune to ear bleeds. He's become little more than a ratings whoring provoketeur, although at times (and maybe this is just more of that) he even challenges Ron on the double standard he holds Bill and the team to compared to himself or any number of his NFL binky's. Ron can never admit when he's wrong without at least trying to spin it as a grudging admission at best, still pending the end of time when he may yet be vindicated.

Most fans of a dynasty want to hear cogent insight even including well reasoned criticism. Not snappy shock jock zingers. So much of what we get in this town is pandering, either mindlessly to the team or equally mindlessly to the nitpicking nature of what sports radio has convinced itself is it's core demographic. Friends of Bill vs. Enemies of Bill. And Red Sox obcession. That's sadly it in this market.

i am sure that you can get frustrated by this site sometimes...however criticizing bogus shouldn't frustrate you. bogus has proven he can't keep an open mind with regard to the pats, so no matter what he says, good or bad, it's not worth paying attention to
