Boomer Esiason's NFL Playoff Predictions

He is referring to Rivers' inexperience as his Achilles heel. Perhaps you should learn to read a bit closer. Or maybe you just can't stand hearing anything negative about your team no matter how true?

i'm sorry, apparently you don't speak english. i gave the examples as to why philip's experience is a non-factor. one would've thought that his inexperience would've shown throughout the regular season huh. 14-2 should get you started.

Please name the Super Bowl that the Patriots won by playing "stellar mistake free play". I remember the Patriots once beating a Rams team that was considered far superior to this year's Chargers team despite making major mistakes, such as holding on plays that were interceptions returned for touchdowns.
Not saying that every team that gets to the Super Bowl gets there without making mistakes, but my point was that you guys will be the underdogs the next two weeks no matter who you're playing. Any logical fan can admit that this isn't your strongest team the last few years and it will take even more "stellar play" to get there this time. Especially without Harrison.

If you can get there this year with your overall talent, then I will definitely be impressed.

huh..I remember a 15-1 Steelers team that throttled the Patriots in week 7 with a rookie QB and getting destroyed at home in the AFCC game.

Rams team far superior than this year's chargers? hmm.. i'll cut you some slack, maybe you don't watch any football other than the patriots. unfortunately you're unaware that the chargers are the most complete team in the NFL with no obvious weaknesses. Their offense is the best in the league, their defense is the best in the league when healthy, their special teams play is one of the best in the league..

the rams had an offense, but no defense. they won by slugging it out and putting up 30+ points a game. the chargers put up the same amount of points with a dominating defense..

the 2006 chargers lost 2 games by a total of 6 points.. that should tell you something since you obviously haven't watched any of their games.

I live in a house where I'm the only Patriots fan and I'm surrounded by Chargers fans. I saw them play, many times this season. You, however, apparently don't know much about that Rams team. Go back and look up it's defensive rating for that season. You might want to tone down your rhetoric, because you look like a moron when you post in this manner and you're both wrong and clueless.

Have a nice day

That isn't true. The majority of our starters were starting in SB 39 or major contributors.

Seymour, Wilfork (rotation guy, rookie season) Jarvis Green (now the 4th man -upgraded with Warren)

Colvin (was the 3rd down pass rushing specialist), Bruschi and Vrabel both started. TBC was a ST guy

Samuels started, the rest of the starting secondary is on the IR except Harrison (who most likely won't play), Hobbs is an upgrade over Gay, Hawkins is better than Geno (IMO)

Offense: Light, Neal and Koppen are still here. Mankins and Kaczur are definite upgrades.

Dillon, Faulk, Evens and Maroney are much better than our backfield in 2004.

Graham, Watson (still here) and Thomas is a solid rookie.

Troy Brown is the only left over at WR, but we still have that same guy playing QB.

In essence it is essentially the same guys. Some a little older for the worse and some a little older for the better.

But without a doubt we are better on both lines, RB, TE, our secondary and faster at OLB than the team that took the field in SB 39. The difference between that team and the 2006 regular season team was turn overs and consistency in the Offense.

Wow, so a typo is supposed to invalidate my point and somehow make you right? Sorry, life simply doesn't work that way. But, you now look petty as well as looking like a moron. Listen, finish this up before your mommy finds out what you're doing and takes away your computer privileges.

As a Chargers fan, let me emphatically say "Are you kidding me?!" The Patriots are the ONLY team I worry about in the playoffs and the Pats have every chance in the world of coming to SD and walking away with a win. I hope my Bolts win and it may appear that way on paper, but the 2 teams are closer than some would admit, analysts, Bolts fans and Pats fans alike.

Of course the Bolts have a decent chance at winning too, but it's definitely no cake walk cause the Pats have experience and so much of the intangibles. But mark my words, whoever wins this game will be the next SB Champions.

Good luck Patriots, may the best team win!

Rams offense ranked 1st in the league in both yards and points scored (503) and they were 7th in the league in points allowed (273) and 3rd in total yards. I would say that is as balanced as it gets.

And good luck to the Chargers too. And let's hope that the winner, whichever team it may be, remains healthy for the next week.

I agree with him on N.O. I'm actually confident that we would beat Baltimore if we can just get past SD - this is the tougher game in my mind.

I was actually thinking about this and I'm not sure which way I am leaning...

Assuming we beat San Diego (which I, unlike Boomer, think is a fairly big assumption), who would you rather play?

Indy or Baltimore?

We're familiar with Indy, but thier offense can be scary. I think we can run on them (if we stay committed to it). Belichick can still gameplan Manning, regular season notwithstanding.

On the other hand, Baltimore really does not scare me on offense and if we can spread the field on them, 17-20 points will be enough to beat them because our defense will hold that offense to 7-13 points.

Actually, that wasn't a spelling error, it was a grammatical error.

"It's" should have been "its"...

Not for nothing...

I would prefer to play Baltimore. Partly because a big passing game scares me and partly because the downside of losing would be FAR worse with Indy. I'd be devastated to lose in the AFCC game, of course, but I would much prefer McNair and the Ravens to be celebrating rather than you know who.

any team can go 14-2 no matter what qb when you have lt, that oline, and the def.

oh and i remember that game @cinn.

where the charger's SS took a cheap shot at housz. ball wasnt even 2 yards from houz and whoever that SS is, tries to take him out....lets hope he doesnt do anything dirty like that on sunday...

I envy the neutral fans (of neither NE or SD) who should get to (relaxedly) watch a great game by the best two teams in football.

Too bad you have no historical perspective. The 2001 Rams scored more than these Chargers. They also were a top three Defense, and allowed around 75 fewer points. But the Rams had some phony defensive stats just like the Bolts do. Both played "downhill defense" in which being on top by a comfortable margin, allowed an all out Pass Rush and to ignore the run.

Phony stats.

You do realize that in spite of, and already allowing for, the "fantabulous, never equaled 61 sacks" your pass defense ended up no better than the Cleveland Browns pass defense in terms of opponent's passer rating. You couldn't shut down the pass or run allowing 4.2 YPC; you made your opponents passers have an acceptable if not winning game stats.

Some great Defense ? Nonsense!! You merely outscored your pitiful opponents. The Browns defense was probably actually better.

Yesterday, I said your SOS was 28th in the league; but its not really correct. You were tied with three clubs for the 30 easiest schedule. Only two teams faced an easier schedule. Talk about a cakewalk over pitiful opponents.

Why didn't you have some truly superb offensive and defensive stats, then??
