Cold Pizza (ESPN) asks former NFL QB Boomer Esiason, CBS Analyst, who he thinks will win SB XLI

AFC Division Round:

Ravens over Colts - McNair, Ravens' Defense and Homefield will be enough to knock Peyton out of the playoffs.

Patriots over Chargers - NE has had trouble stopping LT in the past. The achilles heel of the Chargers, Philip Rivers, and his inexperience will prove to be determining factor for NE's win. "He's (Rivers) played good and I love the kid, but he's not Tom Brady, and I'm going with BB, the Two Best Player/Coach combination left in the playoffs...He's (Brady) not about Probowls, he's about SB's."

NFC Divison Round:

Saints over Eagles - Overwhelming offense of the Saints, and the absence of Lito Sheppard will be the key for the Saints' win.

Bears over Seahawks - The Paris Hilton of football (Grossman) is more worried about where the next party is to think about the game. Defense prove to be the factor for the Bears win.

AFC Champ Round:

Patriots over Ravens - "Since Week 1, I picked the Patriots to go to the SB for the AFC...As long as there are no injuries in this game (PatvsChargers), I don't see how they can lose."

NFC Champ Round:

Saints over Bears - Brees over Grossman(if Grossman isn't sitting on the bench by now). Enough said. lol

SB:

Patriots over Saints - When asked: Who will win the SB? *responding immidiately* "Who do you think?????" Well built team, Defense is underappreciated, Less than about 15 ppg given up by this Defense.

Any thoughts???

Jesus, talk about a line that makes your heart skip a beat . . . :rocker:

I agree with him on N.O. I'm actually confident that we would beat Baltimore if we can just get past SD - this is the tougher game in my mind.

I hope he is right, I agree with all his picks.

Even Scouts Inc. have the Patriots to win this week.

Who are the real underdogs here??

Hey an expert actually picked us? I thought we had no chance in hell Chargers fans? Don't answer that. Hehe wouldn't want to rain on your parade. Bottom line Pats win the big ones. I expect them to continue to do it this year.

I think the Eagles have a good shot at upsetting the Saints. I agree with the picks, but if those all hold true only 1 road team will have won through the first two rounds of the playoffs. I don't think that will happen. I see the Pats beating the Chargers and the Eagles beating the Saints. The only other road team that really has a shot at winning on Sunday is the Colts and I don't think their D can show up two weeks in a row - especially on the road.

If no one starts a prediction thread by tomorrow. I am pretty stoked I went 4for 4 last week and was close on two out of the 4 scores.

CBS.sportsline gives the slight edge to SD's defense against our offense and
a moderate edge to SD's offense over our defense.

Sometimes I wonder if they actually watch football or look up stats?

Boomer has been a Pats backer all year so no surprise. He also continually talks about Brady being one of the best ever.

I'm also in limbo with the Saints vs Eagles game.

eagles have a great offense, complimented by a good defense

all the saints have is 400 yards a game drew brees...saint d isnt all that great...

i think this will be a high scoring game/coin flip

I don't see this as anything but Boomer sticking with his preseason pick (New England).

I think even you guys have to agree that it will take stellar mistake free play and a little luck to get through two more AFC games as winners.

Many of these "analysts" stick with their pick to go to the Super Bowl if they are still in the tournament. Hell I heard one of these jackholes sticking with the Giants because that was their pick in August.

Please name the Super Bowl that the Patriots won by playing "stellar mistake free play". I remember the Patriots once beating a Rams team that was considered far superior to this year's Chargers team despite making major mistakes, such as holding on plays that were interceptions returned for touchdowns.

That is a good point, Boomer is sticking to his guns. On paper all 4 AFC teams are impressive and it wouldn't be a shock to see any of them reach the Superbowl. Your statement "it will take stellar mistake free play and a little luck to get through two more AFC games as winners" holds true for all the AFC teams, the competition is great this year.

Except, SB 36 was about the closest example of mistake-free you're going to get in a game of one NFL team versus another.

makes you realize that boomer took one too many shots to the head huh.

he's taking BB, even though marty has schooled him in the past, dominating their matchup head to head.

he's also taking tom brady who is 2-7 when traveling to the west coast.

rivers has carried this team with his arm (@cinn, @den, @seattle).. achilles heel? hardly..

He is referring to Rivers' inexperience as his Achilles heel. Perhaps you should learn to read a bit closer. Or maybe you just can't stand hearing anything negative about your team no matter how true?

A New England vs New Orleans SB would kick A**.Everyone will be rooting for the Saints in this game. How ever BB will outcoach Sean Payton in the end.

Rams team far superior than this year's chargers? hmm.. i'll cut you some slack, maybe you don't watch any football other than the patriots. unfortunately you're unaware that the chargers are the most complete team in the NFL with no obvious weaknesses. Their offense is the best in the league, their defense is the best in the league when healthy, their special teams play is one of the best in the league..

the rams had an offense, but no defense. they won by slugging it out and putting up 30+ points a game. the chargers put up the same amount of points with a dominating defense..

the 2006 chargers lost 2 games by a total of 6 points.. that should tell you something since you obviously haven't watched any of their games.
