Blount Signs with Pats (2yr deal)

Blount can likely help the team sure, but he quit on his teammates in Pitt and I wish the Pats had just left him out to rot. The 'Patriot Way' takes another kick in the mouth. Blount is a bad seed, he had his shot at redemption and pissed it all away. Can't imagine Big Daddy Kraft likes the way this move will sully the Patriot name in the national view.

Well, you have to figure that no matter how they play it, at some point there has to be a try at power running whether it is a "keep them honest" attempt or a 4th Q run out the clock attempt. I'm just wondering if Blount could see the field this Sunday at all or if that simply isn't enough time. It has to makes the Lions coaching staff a bit concerned that a player just got added that they didn't consider.

I see no reason why Blount couldn't go Sunday. Knows the system and while he didn't play was active for the MNF game.

Does anybody know if we still get the compensatory pick we originally were going to get for losing him to the Steelers in the off-season?
No idea - on the same line of thinking, as comp picks are based partially on playing time, can we increase our comp pick by playing him more ?

I'm not a huge Blount fan but very happy to have him back, we were one Gray injury from having no big back.

Except he didn't quit on his teammates. The game was over and Steelers were kneeling on the ball (or that's the report I saw earlier) and he left the field. Quiting on your team is what Tomlinson did in the '07 AFCC game.

Not to mention, anyone who bails on the Steelers is a friend in my book.

I don't give a damn what he did for other teams. If he can come in and do what he did for us last year, then we just hit a home run.

Ground and Pound baby...the Jets fan base are short-circuiting right now....good signing...

Blount signed a two-year deal worth up to $2.35M, per source. He gets the prorated minimum this year and up to $1.6M w/ incentives in '15.

Belichick doesn't trust rookie RBs in the playoffs. One of the reasons why stevan ridley was benched for thr last super bowl.

I think this was more of a contingency plan for the future, as we have three RB's scheduled for FA after this season: Ridley, Vereen, and Bolden. Conventional wisdom and experience suggests that we will not be able to keep all three (our priority would probably be Revis). My guess is in order of priority: Vereen (3rd down specialist that cannot be easily replaced), Bolden (4 unit ST/RB backup value), and then Ridley, as he is not on ST, and would be competing with Gray and Blount for playing time.

BB decided the ground attack worked so well he's moving to a wishbone-option attack. Gronk and Fleming at TE, Hooman at wingback, Develin, Blount and Gray in the backfield. we're benching Brady, of course, as Edelman is a superior wishbone qb.

We have that rookie rb we took from some team on IR that should be healthy next year.

Perfect and awesome. It's all coming together for a super bowl run.
