Bad weather ball. There could be three bad weather games including the SB this year.

I absolutely looooooove bad weather games. The only thing that could have made that game better would have been if the rain came down as frozen white stuff.

I absolutely love clock killing power football, especially in the 2nd half of a game......I almost wonder if Coach Bill kept the power game under wraps to keep Blount's legs fresh. To see a big man with that kind of acceleration this late in the season......WOW

Blount also set a franchise record for most all-purpose yards in a single game - breaking a record that had stood for 51 years!

I'm actually slightly surprised that Mack Herron didn't hold the team record for that stat, as he set an NFL-record for most all-purpose yards in a single season back in the mid-seventies when he was pretty much the Patriots' entire offense for a couple years.

LeGarrette Blount's record-setting day is encouraging -- and a blast from the past - Touching All the Bases - Boston.com

Playing in conditions that turned the Gillette Stadium turf into an Olympic swimming pool, Blount took to the circumstances like a duck to water. His rushing total was the fifth-best in franchise history. He had over 100 rushing yards slightly more than two minutes into the second quarter. He scored a pair of long rushing touchdowns -- a 36-yarder in the second quarter and a clinching 35-yard run late in the fourth after the resilient Bills had pulled within a touchdown with under four minutes remaining.

“I mean, I like touching the ball no matter what the weather is. I’m not going to argue with them if they want to give it to us,'' Blount said.

Every time the Bills got close, Blount did something to shift the momentum the Patriots' way.

In 13 games last season, on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, LeGarrette Blount ran for 151 yards and two touchdowns. He had 153 all-purpose yards as a seldom-used backup to Doug Martin.

A year later, things have certainly changed for better for Blount and that was illustrated in tonight’s 34-20 win over the Buffalo Bills. The running back ran for a career-best 189 yards and 334 all-purpose yards, giving the Patriots one of the best performances in franchise history.

Blount’s 334 total yards set a new Patriots single-game record, topping the team’s 51-year-old record set by Larry Garron on Nov. 3, 1962. The 189 rushing yards are the most since 1998 and fifth best in Patriots’ franchise history.

“It was our offensive line,” Blount said. “All we have to do is find holes. They block tremendously. They had an amazing game. It was one of our best games by our offensive line and they played amazing throughout the whole season and they definitely came through for us big-time today. You can’t say enough about those guys, they’re tough.”

Blount hurt Buffalo all over the place. He had a 36-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a 35-yard score in the fourth. He set a career-best returning a kickoff for 83 yards in the third and then added a 62-yard return in the fourth.

The 27-year-old finishes the season with 772 rushing yards and a career-high seven touchdowns.

Hmm ... here's a surprise:

Of all the amazing thing about Blount's performance one that strikes me is that he had 27 carries in only 33 snaps. In other words, the Bills knew darned well exactly what was coming - but they could NOT stop it.

In ten year's time, we'll just be talking about "Blount's Game". He was a downhill train all night.
