So I was reading the comment at the end of the MMQB this week and came across a link by a blogger about Brady and Manning, at the end of THAT article there was a link to this article about BB from last Oct.

Found it an interesting read.

Sorry. I thought this was a really weak article. I think that 20 people on this board could write a better one. (And the point about proof reading is 100% right.)

What makes BB so interesting is that he isn't just the one-sided obsessive that the author makes him out to be. Sure, he's obsessed with football (what NFL coach isn't?) and a control freak. But he's also open with his players (see recent discussions with Ninkovich) and good at taking others' viewpoints. He is ruthless, of course -- but sensitive to people and their feelings (witness Scar talking about how graciously BB handled the question of his retirement).

I can't imagine anyone handling the debacle of the last off-season better than BB did -- clear, authoritative, setting a line under things but not being evasive.

All in all, BB is an incredible lesson in how to make use of your strengths but not let them turn into weaknesses. Which is why he's uniquely successful.
