This guy? I like him! He's got some moxie!!!!

Or...

I'm not going to commit either way. I'll hope for the best. Would hate to see a guy miss out because of confidence issues.

I spent too much time defending Dopson in the past. I've learned my lesson.

As much as Id hate to interfere w your BC ratings . I made him my sophomore binkie.

Just give him something red to wear . and release the Clamp Clampington in him..

Ex-Gilman star, Alabama cornerback Cyrus Jones has truly unforgettable nickname

I mean, its not kid's fault if “he comes from a family of horoscope readers“ ..

It was weird to draft a guy with mid-round CB ability in rd2 because of his return abilities. I know BB loves the 4 down stuff but it seemed like a luxury pick.

Hopefully Cyrus can fix his return skills because if J. Jones passes him on the depth chart he won't be playing CB anytime soon.

I think his lower and upper bounds as a defensive player are, respectively, Darius Butler (2010, not the guy who ended up being decent in Indy) and Logan Ryan.

As far as special teams...he didn't even look that good as a returner when he DIDN'T repel the ball.

Nothing against the guy personally, but I'm not expecting anything from him. I consider him a bubble player as of right now.

I think he's gonna do fine. He's got the best coaches in the country, and his teammates I am sure will be giving him support.

Despite my being an Alabama Homer, I think the kid just had some trouble adjusting to the speed and complexity of the Pro game, and had a ton of pressure on him dueto high expectations right off the bat. Gave him a problem with his confidence when he made some errors.

My personal opinion, and it's just that, is that an off season after that SB win is probably what he needed to get his head back in the game. His heart is there, and he has the skills. I think he'll do fine.

the one that gets cut after the third preseason game.

Has this ever happened to a second round pick in year two? I'm not saying it can't happen, but we would have zero precedent for it, particularly not when Jones played pretty well at CB other than a few rookie moments.

has a team ever come back from being down 28-3?

I don't think that Jones was draft in the 2nd round to be a returner. Corners drafted in the 2nd are expected to become CORNERBACKS, become starters or nickel backs in their 2nd year, or at the latest shown these skill in the pre-season before their 3rd season.

As of now, he is fighting with J Jones to be the #4 corner. Of course, J Jones IS a top special teamer, and would always be active. It is not clear that Cyrus Jones would even be active as an 8th DB. Ebner or Richards could fill that role as the emergency db backup.

With regard to punt returns, I expect Edelman to our returner, with the alternative being Amendola. I don't know who will be retuning kicks. I guess the hope is Jones, but that would be an expensive way to use an active roster spot (if he is the #5 corner). After all, how many retable kick returns do we expect our defense to allow the other team?

Is that a serious answer?
Yes, but it was meant to say "had" not has.

Just because something hasnt happened(honestly i don't care enough to go look if the pats ever cut a 2nd rounder in year 2) doesnt mean it cant happen.

I was wondering if Gwedd had weighed on this!
I'm hoping that Jones doesn't "think" to much n just let it flow.
As an aside; I ran into one of my tailgate mainstays in naturally after the perfunctory babble of how's everyone doing is talked about, the real meat: the KC game came up. I had sent him n others an email for a Sour Orange Jello Shot recipe (that is as patriotic as u can get!). N we agreed to email starting in August

You know me too well. Like I said, I'm an Alabama Homer, and willingly admit that. Having said that, I try not to get too down an ANY player until year 3 or so, especially if he's drafted in the first 3 rounds or so. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, because if the team sees something there, then I (and all fans, really) need to respect that and offer support. Some guys just take longer to adjust than others.

Give the kid some time to adjust to the bright lights and speed of the NFL, if he does not adapt to the game here there is always a Popeye's chicken franchise available..

Well, I'm a guy, so.......

But yeah, I was just thinking about returning him for the coming year.

Sorry bout that. I typed Gwedd but auto correct.
Nevertheless, Bill the Cat is the MAN!!

I think he had a fumbling problem at the college level. It was masked-off by some good punt and kick-off returns..
