This season we have 6 more sacks than 2012; we have regressed in other areas especially forced fumbles from 30 in 2012 to just 10 this season. Brandon Spikes forced 5 in 2012 and has none to through 15 games.

2012
• Sacks: 37
• Pass Defends: 81
• Forced fumbles: 30
• Fumble recoveries: 21
• Interceptions: 20
• Turnovers: 41
• Touchdowns: 2

2013
• Sacks: 43
• Pass Defends: 72
• Forced fumbles: 10
• Fumble recoveries: 12
• Interceptions: 17
• Turnovers: 29
• Touchdowns: 2

What I find interesting is for year’s people have highlighted how Wilfork and especially Mayo do not make big plays and are not playmakers but when you look at the big picture they make a huge difference. Those two combined for 7 forced fumbles, 6 sacks, 9 pass defended, 5 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception. Areas that stood out as unnoticed are the fact that big Vince knocks down a lot of passes at the line of scrimmage (6) and Mayo forced a number of fumbles (4). I for one have a totally different view of these two players and fund their value to be exceptional in terms of general playmaking and big playmaking.
