Patriots Player Departure Bentley released

While it's easy to feel loyal to a guy like Bentley - who I thought outperformed his starting point, and became a good player & leader...
The truth is - this team has been garbage across the board for 3 years. After 2 straight 4-win seasons, we can't be mad if most of the roster changes over.
Now, would it be nice to see Bentley and Andrews be the old bridge guys that get to lead the resurgence, yes.
But I can't hate Vrabel & Co. for cleaning house and starting fresh. It's much like what BB did in 2000-01
You make perfectly good points. I think what also made it a bit easier of you want to say that for release both guys is that they both had history of missing signif amounts of time due to injuries.

The respectful thing to do with players of thier caliber is to release them to allow them to go wherever they so choose to continue playing.

Letting Tavai go would add 987K to his 5.4M current cap hit.

Numerous people said that Bentley might be let go. What's interesting is that the Pats hit him with the Failed Physical designation despite Phil Perry saying that Bentley was cleared.
Tavai costs less than nothing and is a Ster and an 8th LB who can start if necessary.
