Well the defensive performance tonight put up the following stats

Green Bay Packers Offense

26 first downs
369 total yards
226 passing yards
143 rushing yards
27 points
11-19 3rd down conversion (58%)
40:48 time of possession

New England Patriots Defense

1 interception returned for TD
1 forced fumble
5 sacks
6 points
369 total yards

Despite all the yards, time of possession and exceptionally poor performance from the offense tonight the young and banged up defense made the stops when the game was to be won.

A big lesson learnt and a monumental wake up call for the Patriots tonight. Nice to win a close one where the D is tested and they come up when needed too.

Phew.

The key point is that in the end of the day, the defense won the game.

This game was only ugly because of the TOP

what the hell was that ridiculous, 10 minute later pass interference call? I didn't understand that at all.

The Packers had 40:28 TOP. That is ******ed. Welker and Branch combined for 5 catches because Brady only completed 15 passes. I also don't think it was because or defense was bad, just so gassed they couldn't do anything

If this performance came against any team in the playoffs they would get blown right out of the water. Belichick even said so in his presser, how if they play like this again they cannot expect to win. The play calling for the Packers was also a bit questionable. The Pats D did not really get any better tonight

Yep, the Packers intercepted, fumbled, sacked themselves and the Patriots offense carried the young and banged up defense again in a blow out tonight. Heard it all before. Go away.

How can you take anything positive from this game? The Patriots had no business winning this game, and with the way they played did not deserve to win. If the Patriots played this way in the playoffs what do you think the outcome of the game would be?

agreed but you think if we had all our lineman active the packers wouldve run the ball as effectively ? the packers definitely helped out in th drive before last where they went to pass on first down and got sacked instead of continuing to run the ball. The offense also shares blame for not sustaing drives and bad blocking

I must have missed the result of today's game. Can you remind me of the score?

The pats defense have always been like this.
Remember a jake delhomme team scored 35 points in a Superbowl against them.

So all of a sudden the defense is horrible because they played undermaned ? What about the last couple of weeks, what were you saying then? What were you saying after the jests win?

Good to see the chicken littles can take something away from this game.

The D basically won the game for them..WTF are you talking about?

Shouldn't have to come down to a Matt Flynn miscommunication to win the game.

Did you notice that huge tackle by Chung to set that up? How about that sack? There is always something to be said for defensive stands. The mistakes made out there today are correctable.

It was 4th and 1 on the 15 with 20 seconds left on the clock and GB with no time outs. It was not just because of a mis-communication that the Pats won. The defense made just enough plays to win the game, which is what it was doing before these last two blow outs.

That said, the team did come out pretty flat and got knocked around off the start, which didn't help the D line situation any.

If the Pats D could actually have come up with some 3rd down stops they wouldnt have had to been on the field for that long and not get so worn out. Playing like this is going to catch up to the Patriots sooner or later

I think there are 30 other teams besides Atlanta who would love to trade places with New Englands 12 wins right now...and many of those wanting to trade have better defenses that failed them more often than the Pats D

Belichick has a lot to take away from this game and a lot of coaching to do. While you can believe that he's going to be happy with the win, he's not going to be happy with the way the team played. None of us should be happy with it either. The zone was getting exposed all game long and the offensive line had a ton of trouble blocking the Packers' D-Line for three quarters. There's going to be a lot to build on in the film sessions this week.

Well, if the Patriots scored 31 and the opponents scored 27, I think the Patriots would move on and the opponents would go home. :bricks:

I should just save myself the trouble and put you on ignore.

It's about perspective. The Patriots were fairly average in all 3 facets of the game today. Surprisingly when the game was there to be won, it was the defense which shouldered the load by continuing to do what they do. Sure it wasn't a great performance but it was a good enough performance to carry to special teams and offense.

Nobody in their right mind could begrudge a side for winning. Nobody.
