Bejeweled ex-Pats discuss the defense - Extra Points - Boston.com

well at least all those people who in the SB yrs kept saying that "they are not a supremely talented team but just dont make any mistakes" can now shut up...law has a point.

Anyone that ever said that was an idiot. BB inherited a great linebacker core plus Law, drafted Seymour and picked up some very smart veterans.

Anyone that thinks you take a bunch of guys hanging around home depot and coach them into an elite unit is and was an idiot.

I think we should have started replacing players earlier, but I'm certainly not equipped to build or judge an NFL team. Maybe it's best to let them learn together and try to squeeze an extra championship or two out of a long in the tooth defense.

I'll defer to the expert here and assume this young bunch will start to round into shape.

We must remember, this defense was depending a lot on Wilfork, Bodden and Warren for vet leadership and we lost two.

i thought it was very interesting last night when they were talking about Martz and his teams having many turnovers ... like a riverboat gambler someone said. So that knowledge had to be part of Belichick's strategy in that Super Bowl.

I always thought the strategy was to knock the snot out of them because that's what we do ... never knew the other side of that story.

Always wondered why martz did not change his strategy that game ... ... because he was a gambler ... and he thought he would get jackpot anyways.

if you followed the media during the SB yrs thats all they said. they kept saying they dont have more than 1 or 2 HOF players but play well as a team and dont make mistakes ..like a backhanded compliment.

The 2001-2004 Patriots are collectively one of the most dominant and talented dynasties of all time. You simply cannot argue with their record and the more you think about it, the more you realize just how impressive the players on those sides were.
