Bedard shows Haynesworth looking more like a Redskin from Sunday's game

I live in MD and some local radio show picked up on this today. I chose not to catch the segment but the teaser was something like, "local Boston media catching on to the true Haynesworth." I hope the Pats crush Washington when they play them this year.

We know that Deilman is good. However ELITE players play great against the best, not just the dregs. EVERYONE is good at this level.

Personally I think most of Haynesworth's issues will be related to his injury

Dielman isn't good he's great. He and Mankins are the best guards in the AFC probably the NFL. By ignoring the fact the there is a huge difference in talent between Dielman and Ignognito you are making the same mistake in your post that Bedard makes in his article.

Haynesworth didn't get blown off the ball they weren't running all over his side. He generated as much pass rush as the rest of the DL (practically none). He played Ok much worse than the week before. So they say he's dogging like he did with the Skins. After the Raider game up when he's up against some scrub and he has two sacks the idiots in the Boston media will say he's back to Titan form.

Despite what you posted the level of competion you go against does matter. Does Brady play as well against the Ravens as he has against the Bills ?

Please go read about who Albert Haynesworth matched up with all day: The Kris Dielman Story - Bolts From The Blue

Thanks for the link. If you followed the links to their OL charting it is pretty awesome. They have the Miguel of OL watching over there.

Run Blocking Notes:
  • Keeping in mind who Kris Dielman was blocking...he did pretty good by getting a 82% and a power score of 0 in the run game.
Grades for all 5 OL ranged from 64(LT) - 88

Kris Dielman drives his defender at 13:07 in the 2nd quarter. On another play, 12:30 in the 2nd quarter, Kris twists the upper body of a defender and throws him to the ground after contact.
.....
Dielman engages in a double with the center and then catches a run blitz out of the corner of his eye. And the last moment he picks up the blitz. 3rd and short turns into a big play as the back squirts through the hole.
Don't know if these are Haynesworth or not. ??

Pass Blocking Notes:
  • The Patriots really didn't bring more than 4 rushing defenders when the Chargers passed the ball.
......
  • There where a lot of help blocks in this game. All of the offensive lineman received their share.
  • At 1:08 in the 2nd, Nick Hardwick and Kris Dielman pick up a defensive line loop stunt. ......
  • Overall, not a bad day pass blocking

hmmmmmmm. From the SD perspective: we NEVER brought more than 4; and there was A LOT OF HELP blocking.

That would lend credence to the SCHEME not effort argument. BB was having them control gaps and focusing extra guys on trying to take away Gates.

Note that Haynesworth's guy - Dielman got the 2nd most help 16 times according to SD counts. so I dont know that was Haynesworth all game; but it shows that SD respected him.

sorry about the chart insert formats. Not sure how to do that here so it looks clean. If I figure it out (& have time) will clean it up.

I don't think he will ever be dominant, Wilfork is a much more complete player. Looks like just a pretty nice option to use in a rotation.

On the Plus side
- he is a big body in the middle, he and Big Vince are 700+ pounds mass
- the light may go one for a few snaps a game

Negatives
- looks woefully out of shape
- very difficult to motivate, quits on plays
- displays a lazy effort

My expectations are way down, I think he will contribute but won't be a star.
