Ender didn't realize the importance of what he was doing; BB tends to exaggerate the importance of what he's doing.
Ender's brother was his greatest enemy, and Ender's parents weren't in the picture; BB followed in his father's footsteps.

Yeah, they both had to cope with targeted rule changes, and they both have severe popularity issues. But I still don't see the comparison as being particularly close ...

You make good points, but I would argue that BB doesn't exaggerate the importance of what he's doing. I think he just loves football, as you said, and tries (sometimes too hard) to win. From his interviews, I don't get the sense that he thinks he's saving the world or anything.

Either way, I guess the point I was trying to make was the targeted rule changes part. I'm just glad people knew what I was talking about
