Bademosi to Texans: Highest paid ST player

We are paying Jason McCourty less than what the Texans are paying Bademosi. Yes, it takes talent away from our ST units....but we still have Ebner and King. Slater will hopefully re-sign shortly...but Slater has to be liking what Ebner and Bademosi have made on the market...both over 2.5M. I think Slater will command 3.5M/AAV.....

I appreciate what Bademosi did in 2017....just one more tackle though....LOL. Thanks, Badman!

He was a jag replacement until teams watched film on him and figured out he really couldn’t play man. He’s a good special teams player, but the Pats have other guys who can do that better.

Are you really comparing Jonathan Bademosi to Wes Walker? Really?

What's that supposed to mean? Can I not say, "Pluto orbits the sun just like Jupiter?" without a response of, "Are you really comparing Pluto to Jupiter? Really?"

My quote was: "If some people can't get over Welker and look at his entire career with the Pats, I certainly would never expect them to get over Bademosi." I could have phrased it, "If people can't over Welker's drop and keep ignoring how he was a star with the Patriots, I certainly wouldn't expect people to get over Bademosi's whiff and ignore that he had at least shown to be a reasonably competent CB5 until then," and it would have sent exactly the same message as I originally wrote. Would that satisfy your concerns?

Who needs him? We got Jordan flipping Richards. Now, I know everyone is going to laugh at me but I think he will rebound this year and be an elite player

agreed

Belichick will almost certainly add more special teamers before the season starts. Obviously, he is really good at paying them low compensation until others find out what they are worth.
Last year included Marsh, Bademosi, Flowers, Grigsby and Lee. We'll get new ones this year.

These players can ***** all they want about the locker room and how ****ty it is to play in New England (not specifically Bademosi) but one thing is for sure. You go to New England and just do your job, your ass is gettin’ paid!!

Bademosi spent his first four years in Cleveland, then was in Detroit for a year. If he had stayed in Detroit last season, there's no way he's getting a 2 year/$6.25 million contract as a free agent.

I completely agree.

Maybe the Patriots should do what most teams do and draft a positional player who can also play special teams.

No, you are comparing peoples opinion of Welker with their opinion of Bademosi. Not remotely similar.

No, it pretty much is similar, and I'm having a hard time seeing why you don't think it is. This isn't Jordan Richards who had an established track record of failure. Bademosi was only CB5 but had been reasonably effective in what he was asked to do in his limited time during the season, including/especially tackling.

Many people are willing to give Welker a lot of slack for his drop because of the rest of his Patriots career. Some people won't do that and think that one bad drop offsets the greatness of the rest of his Patriots career.

Bademosi had a bad play in the Super Bowl. I would expect the same people who won't give Welker any slack would not give Bademosi any slack either, because his Patriots career isn't anywhere in the vicinity of Welker's. I would be very curious to find someone who is willing to "forgive" Bademosi but not "forgive" Welker. I did not say anything or make any inference about the group of people that are willing to give Welker some slack but not Bademosi.

There were people who wanted to cut GRONK after the fumble against CLE his rookie year.

No.

Welker is a 1000 snap a year , HoF caliber WR who had two bad clutch plays in the playoffs back to back.

Badman was an elite STer who played more than he should have.

Different

IMHO a decent player for what he is -- STs, injury backup CB. But the Texans paid a price the Patriots can't afford (and probably few teams would pay .... even in this sellers market).

If we couldn't afford Lewis at 4/20, we certainly can't afford Bademosi at 2/6.
As another mentioned, at this price Bademosi will be getting some regular reps at CB (else the Texans are equivalent to a drunk at 2am who has 3 brand new credit cards and they have 6 browser tabs open all for amazon.com)

I'm surprised the Patriots didn't reach out to him. He absolutely KILLED it in the Super Bowl.

That FKING third down conversion he allowed still gives me nightmare. Thank GOD he G-O-N-E.

IIRC, a flag was not thrown on that play but should've been despite the poor acting job.

When did that happen ? He returned back to the bench once Gilmore was back and until then played really well. After that he never really had any major snaps as CB.

You are revising history here if you claim he was figured out or whatever.

Or maybe you've been so spoiled by excellent special teams in New England you don't see the importance of it, because it is rarely a problem.

I'm a Texas Longhorns fan. They played Missouri in the bowl game this year, and the UT punter was named MVP. 11 punts, 10 downed inside the 20, 8 downed inside the 10. To say that had little to do with Texas winning the game would be ridiculous.

He play some corner after that and he played worse imo. He isn’t a good player. He was above average on ST and the Pats had and still have several ST players who are better.
