Here's a guy who did all that was asked of him. Makes the team. Imagine how happy he was. PRobably called his parents, all thrilled.

Next day he is unceremoniously cut for a random castoff from Buffalo? I mean if they traded for Eric Moulds (who I wanted them to get in the offseason) or something, OK. But a random castoff?

Where is the reward for loyalty? If I were Childress and the Pats called in the future, I'd want to tell them to walk.

If this guy was popular on the team, I can see it backfiring. Popular player who tries hard, does what he's told, dumped for Buffalo reject. Great.

Great, he'll be on the practice squad shortly after midnight.

What's so bad about that?

I'll give the Patriots, you know, those who are around and evaluate Bam every day, the benefit of the doubt.

There's a reason behind everything. This is just another facet of their plan.

are you Bam????

i bet you are.

If he gets on the Practice squad he'll be activated for at least 4 games I'd think.

I got to agree with mcbee on this one... What a crappy day for Bam, I do feel for him. I don't get it. But i do trust and believe in BB and SP. Hopefully Bam stays around and gets another chance soon....

Practice squad is already set. Neither he nor Mincey is on it.

I honestly think it sucks too. I was only able to view the first preseason game but thru field pass, everything ive heard, and everything i've read on here i was given the impression that he was becoming a solid option at receiver.

I don't get it. But the reason we don't get it is because b/c we don't know "the rest of it" yet.

they are either bringing another Receiver in or signing beetlejuice back.

I feel bad for Bam too.

If you think the 3 time super bowl coach does things at random, LOL!!

The practice squad can have 8 men. The Pats only have 6.

Today's waivers expire at midnight. Once he clears waivers, I'm sure he'll be #7 on the practice squad.

Mincey's waiver stint expired last night at midnight, but you're right, he's still not not on the practice squad. I think it's pretty safe to assume he won't be going on it.

Don't be ridiculous. The Pats gave this walk-on receiver every chance to showcase his abilities around the league, and now he has a resume on film and even if the Pats don't pick him up for the practice squad, BB has ensured Bam of having an NFL career somewhere. Bam should be beyond grateful to BB. The negativity on this board really stinks. You'd think we were all rooting for the Celtics or something. C'mon, people!

You know there may be some reason to BB's madness. We know that Andrews was wearing a red no-contact jersey after the Washington game and did not dress for the NY Giants game. We also know that our new #1 draft pick did not play due to a supposed knee injury. Further, Pass was put on the PUP list.

Who does that leave on the active 45 to perform KR/PR duties? Kevin Faulk, Troy Brown and Ellis Hobbs? I suspect that the new guy from Buffalo was added for a couple of weeks until are other ST returners are more healthy. Then perhaps one of the STers will be cut for Childress to come back on the active 53??

you can't feel bad because this was not a personal move. this is a business and business decisions need to be made. i trust BB to make the proper decision. i do think someone had a vaild point that he was a really late waiver so being picked up by another team was difficult.

i also think that many assume that this was a lightening strike for bam. why do yo assume this? for all we know, bb had a talk with bam about the future and how adding smith would help the team with bam on the ps. smith can be cut easily and bam can be brought up in a heartbeat.

if bam is the type of guy he appears to be, this will drive him even harder. tough to go through? sure, but nobody ever said it would be easy.

Life in the NFL is tough. I was liking what I had seen out of Bam. Hopefully, he'll get on the practice squad.

Yes, Jonathan Smith was a "Buffalo Reject" who happened to be a better punt returner and kick returner than anything we have on our team. The guy averaged 13.2 yards per punt return and 25.3 yards per kick return. Granted, some of that comes from the blocking, but on punt returns, a lot is the player.

This move makes no sense, at this time.

I just re-watched the Giants game. Bam knows how to ge topen, he knows the seams, and for the most part, he holds onto the ball.

He is small, of that there is no doubt, but he just seems to be the kind of player that fits into the Pats mold, a David Patten type...only younger... strange move, very strange...but, maybe there is more, yet to come.

Nem, actually he fumbled once, was out of position a few other times and in the two minute offense, twice, instead of going out of bounds he turned back to the middle wasting time outs and precious seconds.

We all like the guy and his hustle, I think he will be back on the PS. But you have to believe and admire the fact thatBB/SP will not allow emotional decisions to play a role filling up a roster, nor should they. Picking up a better receiver that can play special teams is what makes sense.

This is a REALLY good, astute observation, worth thinking about. If Andrews is too nicked up to play, perhaps this is a temporary risk to take. We have Smith for a game or two, then when Andrews is ready to play, dump Smith and bring back Bam.

This is a false statement. The Practice squad isn't set. Its only got 6 players on it. Bam has to clear waivers before he can be added to it.

My memory is kind of fried, but did it take 2 years for Troy Brown to get promoted from the PS?

SOme players who think they have a shot at another teams 53 Man roster ask the Team to hold out for 24 Hours. I think that is what is happening here.
