I've been speaking about the rising CB market and Peterson's new potential pact for the past couple of months now, and I think it's apparent that it's definitely going to cost a **** ton of money to keep Darrelle Revis in N.England beyond next season. He's definitely going to be want to be paid in the top 5 of the position, and rightfully so. With Haden, Peterson, Sherman, etc recently signing new deals, that may be tough for N.England to pull off.
Either way you look at it, I think it's going to come down to free agency like we've seen with many of our stars recently, a la Welker, Edelman, Talib, Woodhead, Blount, etc.
Why people assume that Revis is going to take a deal without seeing what kind of other offers he can get is beyond me, unless we really back up that Brinks truck to the tune of 14m per year AAV, and a ton of guaranteed money. It's possible, but I think it comes down to what some other offers are going to be.
Revis seems to be a perfect fit if the regular season and playoffs goes as well as the 1st 5 practices then Revis won't want to go and BB won't let him.
They will take care of their own first...so McCourty will get the first big deal next off season or during this season. I mean this team is very good salary cap wise i think going into next year and in the future? so i think they can defiantly do it..but the pats won't hedge the future on 1 player even though he may prove to be very important.
It's a long way off and we still get to enjoy a full year of him..but we will always be thinking about next off season and if we can keep him. The reports when he signed here was this was just a 1 year thing for now but both sides were mutually interested in a long term deal. If he wants to win and the pats offer good $$ i think he will stay.
One question: With the recent crop of major CB deals that have happened since Revis signed here, why wouldn't he want to weigh other offers?
He will weigh offers..but he may be at the point now where he will only listen to contenders and what they can offer..not teams like CLE or Oak that won't have a shot at winning the big one
I think our odds are better then 50-50 slightly. But 1 thing is for sure. I would rather pay him that $$ then talib
The question with revis is going to be how much Logan Ryan, dennard and browner show together. With us having some cbs doing ok as rookies I think this will he interesting with revis.
We all love revis already, but is it worth to take money from other positions for him, or let him go and upgrade multiple positions?
I liked him..but not THAT much.Oh, jeez---without a doubt. Without even a second thought.
I know that like me, you never wanted to pay Talib double digits per year either.
I liked him..but not THAT much.
If the Pats deem revis to be worth it. They will pay just like they did other big time players. If he leads then to a SB? He's worth it! Let's hope
They can't do anything with revis until McCourty is locked up
I can't see BB and the pats letting McCourty go no matter what.
