Based upon actual football played on the football field, not subjective “we need this” or “we are rebuilding” qualifiers, are we the best team in the NFL right now?
If not who is, and how compelling is the argument?

Yup

I can’t say this but I can say that we are a tough out to anyone. You will have e to play a perfect game against us and get lucky for us to turnover the ball many times

Top 3 in the afc. Colts/Broncos are 8-2 too but that doesn’t mean they’re better. It feels like the old days seeing these three teams on top

Beat KC or the eagles then yes. We're 8-2 and that's about it
KC is 5-4. They are not close to in the argument.

Philly is in the discussion, but we have player better.

Objectively, NE is more and more in a conversation I couldn’t have predicted.

I think PHI is likely the top team, despite flaws. So many of the top contenders still have warts.

Right all are 8-2 but if you compare how the 3 teams have played I have a hard time saying those teams have been better than us

If it's those two teams at the end, I like our matchups a lot.

The question was defined as on the field this year, not subjective things like “warts” or giving the eagles an advantage based upon last year

I'm going to say "no", I think a couple of the top NFC teams are a smidge ahead, but probably not by a whole lot. Which is really saying something.

I believe Philly has a better roster than NE at the moment and that, overall they’ve played better than NE this year. Since being 1-2, NE has played very well and they indeed have a legit case during their 7-0 run.

(sigh)
I know I'm pretty damn content with where they are right now. And at this point in time, 10 games in, that's a great feeling that need not be argued. OFC I understand YMMV and for some folks the argument is the thing.

I might get blasted for this but you also can’t ever count out KC. It’s the Mahomes affect. They aren’t better than us currently but they can knock off anyone in the playoffs at any given time or it feels that way with them

But I specifically asked the question the way I did to eliminate the bias like that. Honestly, your opinion of “better roster” is meaningless, because you imply your are capable of analyzing and comparing rosters, projecting matchups, addressing complementary football, predicting whether the biggest strength or biggest weakness is mute vital, etc etc infallibly.
If you include subjective opinions you get 100 different answers from
100 different people.

That’s why I qualified it as based upon play on the football future this year.

I feel like you and so many others are so hung up on past performance, that seeing how things are in the present is difficult.

To my eyes, both Mahomes and Allen's best days are behind them. Not every QB plays to 40. Mahomes straight up lost them the Bills game a week ago, he was terrible.

That’s why I framed it the way I did. Remove what if’s and just judge the games that have been played.

Greg Bedard tonight:

"Should they win the AFC East, especially after the Bills fell on their face in Miami one week after beating the Chiefs? Yes. Could they go to the Super Bowl? Yes. There's just something about this team that I'm not going to keep at arm's length anymore."
