This wily veteran watched Butch Songin play in 1960.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only old timer on this board
Than I'm sure most of you remember one of the greatest moments in sports
history in any sport!

Havlicek Stole the Ball!

Not only do I remember it,I was at the Game and saw it live !

Kapp came to the Patriots with a reputatiion of being a lousy passer...but he also had the reputation of being incredibly tough and a guy who could jusr run over people.
He was slow...but he was a bull.
He had the worst passes you ever saw, no spirals...looked like wounded ducks.
The Patriots in those days were desparate for big names and despitethe fact he could not throw the ball properly (and everyone knew it)..He had led the Vikings to the Supr Bowl and was abig name.

Me 2.......
Me 3...not, but does anybody else remember the game when Sam Jones picked up a 3 legged stool to defend himself against Wilt Chamberlain when the big guy went crazy?

I can still hear Johnny Most though..."Havlicek stole the ball! Johnny Havlicek stole the ball! It's all over! It's all over!"

Every time Joe Passed you held your breath. One of the worse looking passes ever. Bobby Douglass couldn't ass either. Joe was a guy they called a gutsy type player. It took a lot of guts to throw those ugly passes -

another nice thread

i really like the 'old' stories like this one

thks !

bud grant coached in the cfl , so he was open to bringing those guys down. kapp was mostly an option / running quarterback. couldn't throw to save his life. looked like kilmer.
