I agree with you regarding the importance of having a full offseason under his belt and I think that could be huge in helping to bring forth his potential, but I have a hard time imagining a scenario where only 1 of Edelman/Hogan/Amendola return.I like his chances next year. Of Edelman, Amandola, and Hogan, given the health and contract status combinations, we'll probably only see one be able to win a significant position coming out of camp. All three are tough and fighters, but there are limitations to that.
Given another year to learn, he could move into the space created.
We can only hope he takes a huge step up in year two.
As a matter of fact, I think the odds would be higher seeing all of them return versus seeing just one. Obviously, Jules will be back, and it’s hard to pass up one more year of Amendola, even if there’s an expected reduction in playing time. Should an injury occur like this year, there’s really no one else you’d realistically choose who already has knowledge of the system like that. And of course, he’s still proving that he’s huge come playoff-time.
That only leaves Hogan, but I think he’s safe. I think his injury was pretty bad this year. Just my opinion. Any way you look at it, the roster battle at WR should be a good one, and that’s a great thing!
