Another Taboo Elephant! [Mac Jones playing well in SF]

I think the bus got pretty dented up yesterday, needs some time in the body shop. Maybe a more appropriate expression for what Mac is would be "won't drive the bus off a cliff". I mean, he's not Jameis Winston bad, that's driving the bus off a cliff. But every time you hand him the keys you wonder if the bus will come back dented or not.

FWIW he didn't make ESPN's list of top 12 NFL backups this year:

Well, considering Browning’s play to date, that list is garbage.

2 interceptions and a fumble last game…

That’s Mac Jones, strong start before falling off a cliff.

I don’t want to beat a dead horse BUT…I knew Mac wasn’t “Him” after two events, which, at the time were easy to gloss over.

1. His dirty *****-ass plays vs opposing DL. Ankle twists, nut shots…like WTF.

2. Maybe even more-so…I will never forget him hysterically crying over an ankle sprain from Calais Campbell like his foot got cut off. That was some soft-assed **** the likes of which I don’t think I’ve ever seen at any level above peewee.

I will root for him as long as his play doesn't impact the Patriots in any way whatsoever.

He's a nut-kicking cry baby, so I don't wish him well. But it is true the Pats pretty much tried to ruin him.

I wish him meh.
Same.
Although we were treated to some high-quality Macorkle Ball in the 4th quarter this Sunday, that's always entertaining.

Well, that's not the usual Pat post. Fits that it has one dislike and one winner vote.

Speaking of cry babies, the dislike is from the leader of The Cult of Bill for daring to suggest Mac got ruined by Bill putting MP and JJ in charge of his development, then refusing to talk to him after things totally jumped the rails.

It's ok with me as long as it doesn't impact the Patriots in any way whatsoever.

He made life so miserable for Bailey Zappe after he lost his job to him that Zappe had to find another room to watch film in, instead of using the QB room. Jones is a punk.

Doesn't surprise me in the least to see you like Mac more than Bill. Fraud.

I'm not convinced that the toxicity went one way in that case. I think it definitely was in both directions.

McCorkle Jones would make a fine QB for the new Savannah Bananas football team.

Wonder if there was any consideration on the Patriots part of keeping Mac Jones for 2024. Trading the 3rd overall and using extra picks to support Jones.

Big win this past Sunday??!!

1) Mac Jones may not turn out to be a good NFL starter.
2) Belichick completely screwed his development in ways that would make the Jetes blush with its sheer incompetence.

Both statements can be true at the same time.

Well, something went down and we'll never know. Callahan wrote that before Mac's disastrous 3rd season, the coaches decided they needed to move on from him. One wonders, did the front office still think of him as the franchise golden boy while the coaches had moved on? I was a Mac backer until the very first game of the 3rd season against the Phins. Things became evident that day. The coaches were well ahead of us because they already knew they were hamstrung by his weak arm and his, well, gutlessness.

Callahan reported that the Patriots coaches had targeted Baker Mayfield as their preferred successor in 2023. Callahan wrote this PRIOR to the 2023 season.

I'll go back to the 2021 draft when Mac Jones was selected. Something very very weird took place in that draft room. It seemed absolutely evident that there were people already against Mac before he was even picked. I've never seen Belichick says those kinds of things before a 1st round pick: "Are we sure about this? Does someone want to speak up here?"
