Analyzing the Colts

A mark of a great QB is succeeding in pivotal games more than you fail.

Exactly.

It isn't how many stats you can put up against weak teams.

It is what you do when you face the NFL's best in the playoffs.

Peyton is amazing. But I'll take Brady every day and twice on Sunday.

I think if the Colts had Brady, they would own atleast 2 rings by now!

Addai looks as advertised in the draft. Good straight-ahead speed, doesn't make anyone miss. Great on sweeps. They say he's a good blocker, but wasn't apparent when I watched. I like our guy. I mean, I REALLY like our guy. More than a first rd LB and Addai, which many mocks predicted.

Brady was red hot last night, 15-20. He can get first downs on 3rd and 30 problably.

LMFAO, we heard that before the 2003 AFC Championship Game, now it's in the preseason

Yeah but the excuse is always, The only team that can beat the Colts is the Colts, and the Colts beat themselves...

...or the snow... or defensive backs playing physical ball... or or my dog ate my playbook... or... or...

Yeah and it was a ghost who intercepted Manning three times, not Ty Law. It was the snow that pressured Manning not the Patriots defense. Might as well blame god for all the Colts problems.

You know, it's interesting. I was going to post a thread about Addai and then found this one and so many folks who have impression about him.

My impression was that he was SLOW getting started and to the line. Impressions at this stage probably don't mean a heck of a lot. But if I were a Colts fan, I think I would be getting nervous. His reputation for being able to run sweeps may not translate at all in the NFL. He got at least a couple when I was watching, but again - they looked SLOW and may have only picked up yardage because Seattle was rotten on outside containment and coverage. As was mentioned, he had a try at a 3rd and 1 and didn't make it. Then he had a 4th and inches and didn't make that. He has a real hesitation about hitting a packed line. Presumably he can be coached out of that ?? ?? And he doesn't look like a guy who handles contact very well.

If they didn't feel that Rhodes was able to carry James load, then this may spell a lot of trouble for the Colts. Boy is this going to be interesting. If my impression is correct, teams are going to be able to put blitz and LB pressure on Manning and still be able to pick up Addai at the same time. Oh my.

That's what I was thinking.

I find it so interesting that the media so blindly loves Dungy and Manning, nobody can see how large a loss edge will be for them.

If defenses concentrate on unloading on Manning due to a diminshed run threat, they could be in for a tough season.

Yeah, if the RB breaks 6 tackles after the dink and dunk.

If I recall he threw a 19 yard pass right to Watson or someone else, they didnt get any YAC.

Maybe Manning should try it.

It's won Brady games.

That's Mannings problem. He throws the ball too far.

Well, the only reason they didn't put up 50 in Foxboro last year was because they self destructed on several drives in the 2nd half and had to settle for field goals.

Like someone said:

Unstoppable last year....unstoppable this year.

Off Topic but, boy is the NBC halftime crew embarrassingly bad.

I thought they were much better than the old MNF halftimes, where they would just stay in the booth with Michaels and have a country music star sing about every game, or the old SNF on ESPN, a Chris Berman- only (it's not like ESPN has an arsenal of informative, good TV presence analysts anyway) studio set. Bettis caused a little brouhaha of his own last week that got national play - about his coach - so that's more than we would get from a whole year of Michaels or Berman. Like him or loathe him, Costas is a smooth host. Collingsworth is Collingsworth, while the only true annoyance of the NBC halftime show is Big Sharpe. Peter King's exclusive was great TV and he's a real asset to the show.

I hate to make excuses like the Colts but Alex Smith could have had a field day throwing against Duane Starks and an injured Randall Gay. Samuel on Harrison?

The reason doesn't matter when you lose. You don't get partial credit or credit for an outstanding performance except for that reason. There is no stat column for 'would have won except for ...'

Uh................. they didn't lose buddy.

They won by nearly 3 TDs, 40-21.
