A) The team wants to compete for Super Bowl with BOTH Thomas and Hoyer on the squad. Both the players and team want to sign new 2 year contracts.

B) There are several players injured who might be put on IR for a few weeks. The team is spending a couple of days to assess which should be put on IR. Perhaps only one will be put on IR this week, or perhaps both.

C) THOMAS
We've spoken about the WR situation a lot. The open question is whether the team wants Thomas and I think that they do.

D) HOYER
1) If Brady goes down for 1-4 games, I want Hoyer out there. It's really that simple. If the team agrees, then he should be back.
2) If Brady retires after this year, the team goes into 2020 with 2 quarterbacks who know the system. In the best case, Stidham is ready to start. If not, another QB would need to be acquired, keeping 2 o3 on the 53.
3) If Brady retires after 2020, we can acquire another QB next year, or not, depending on Stidham's development.
4) Notice that this strategy gives the team flexibility no matter when Brady retires.

Hoyer is gone. He will be part of the Shadow roster until some other team sign him.

Only chance he comes back is in case Brady goes down super early in the season. Stidham has a lot to learn but he is in the beginning of his learning curve, about week 6 he will be a much better player than he is today, after week 9 you have to question if Hoyer's familiarity with the playbook offers more than the kid who has a better arm now and by then will have more than half a season as the backup QB de facto.

What’s the alternative scenario?

The Colts are interested in signing Bryan Hoyer

What’s the alternative scenario?

1) put on player on IR and sign Thomas to a 2-3 year contract.

2) put another player on IR and sign Hoyer to a 2-3 year contract.

1) put on player on IR and sign Thomas to a 2-3 year contract.

2) put another player on IR and sign Hoyer to a 2-3 year contract.

Or neither, or both. These moves are all being debated in the various threads.
