I haven't had time to read the post-game threads yet, but gotta get some love out for Amendola

I know how much he's been trashed here back in the day, but the kid has a knack for making plays when plays need to be made....

he & TB seem to connect very well, too

he was money yesterday, yet again

you can just forget about winning the last super bowl without him; probably the same this year

I think Amendola's current role in the offense is perfect for him in respect to his health and age. He doesn't get overused and with him you know that when you count on him to make a play he'll make it.

when you look at their weapons, you only NEED him to make a few plays a game

but more often than not, when a big play is needed, he seems to step up an make it

it seems like he disappears at times.....simply because i think there's so many other options; TB doesn't force the ball, he goes where the play is....yeah, they design plays to put the ball in JE's hands and Gronks hands, but....

just seems like when we need a big 3rd down, or goal line, or when we need a spark.....kid steps up and makes something happen - he doesn't care that he's behind JE, Gronk, the run game - he just makes plays

another example of how the Patriots operate - looking around the league, there's no doubt he could be getting more touches elsewhere.....

He makes the most of his opportunities. Seems like he works hard in practice so he is always ready.

He is being used right. He is a great role player. He is also one of the best blocking wide receivers I have ever seen and that is amazing considering how small he is. He is very smart and plays with 100% effort.

But, make no mistake, if he were to be the primary focus of our offense you would see that he doesn't consistently get open vs man coverage and he would mostly likely be injured after a few games.

In the first 3 years here, hes averaged about 50 catches, 500 yards, 2TDs a year. That is solid 3WR/4WR numbers. On ST, hes averaged 10.5 PR and 24yd KR ave. Also pretty good numbers.

He has also been a stud in the playoffs and a key player on 3rd down.

Over a 4 year period, Amendola will make about $16m in cash payouts with the team. Thats about $4m a year obviously. Seems like a lot for a role player....but

I bring that up because there are those who say (like me) that they pay him too much and they need to cut his salary. While the team has restructured his deal a couple of times, paying him $4m a year on average for what he has done here is a pretty good deal for both sides. Hes not the go-to-guy but he isn't a fringe roster guy either. Hes pretty valuable to this team and paid accordingly.

I used to think he was overpriced until the 2014 run. He is worth every penny. He does not get a lot of touches but he makes each one count. I also trust him to make a play more than anyone else...as crazy as that may sound!

Having Amendola 100% and ready for the playoffs would be great.....

Can't have too many weapons for the GOAT.....

I expect he'll take over as the full time punt returner as I think the Cyrus the Virus experiment will probably be shelved until next season. He'll also be thrown back into the receiver rotation. I'd welcome seeing him back out there, obviously. Dude is money in the playoffs.

Reliable hands, confident in the system. Would bring a little more dimension to the passing game, and another tool for McD to put to use.

Every time I see Edelman limping back to the sidelines (more than once in the Miami game, btw), I reassure myself with the idea that Amendola should be back soon.

Not much new here...but still promising to hear

By the AFC Div he will have had almost 6 weeks to get healed up

I still don't know where that leaves the team at the WR position. I know there is another thread about it. I really like what Floyd brings to the offense.

The intention is to play him. WR is a 1st world problem, for a change. I expect to see him as PR, KR and 1st down machine.

I would say all due respect to Amendola he is a better football player than athlete. Actually by NFL standards h is a pretty poor athlete at a position where you generally need to be a good one. He just doesn't have the talent to be the focus guy and never has. He is however a very smart player that gets the absolute most out of what he has. He has the best hands in the NFL and is always in the right place. The moment is never to big for him and those those can not be learned. Also by sheer force of will he got himself in the NFL by work ethic and intangibles.

If you put Amendola in Brandon Marshalls body you would have maybe the best WR of all time.

Thats where I'm leaning. As long as hes close to 90%, hes too freaking clutch to have riding the pine.

If hes less than that then there is a decision to be made.

Same goes for Malcolm Mitchell. I hope the knee is a minor sprain type thing.

Its highly possible they go into the game with JE, Hogs, DA, MM, and Floyd.

He doesn't get much playing time but when he does he seems to make the clutch play. Nice first down chain mover and 4tds shows his value.

I dunno. I feel Randy Moss would still be better mentally and physically.

He had big catches in the Super Bowl and Ravens in that playoff run.

I think Amendola's asset is that this team would be in trouble if Edelman goes out, with Amendola you can get 80-90% of what Edelman brings if he gets injured.
