How much do players agents, whisper to teams likely to draft their guy. On the one hand, yes he wants to come. To no my player is not keen on coming to you. So you had better move on.

Often I assume

I doubt it happens much in the draft but will be very common ahead of free agency e.g. at the combine.

I think for most players they take great pride in how high they get drafted, plus the money. Perhaps the few players that drop beyond their draft status made such a move though

at the draft? Not a lot... Only the top players in the draft really have the power to influence the draft - ala Eli, Horseface Elway... there might be others who have done the whole "don't draft me" thing, but its a very short list... maybe other guys do it, but it never gets reported...

the thing about the draft is the draft position = dollars... Players realize that...

Yeah, once you get out of the top 5-10, there's not a lot of juice. I am sure the Deion Sanders is influencing his kid and there's back channel talks going on, but some kid in the 3rd round is probably just happy to get to work.

It rarely happens because players want to be drafted as high as possible to get as much money as they can even if they are risking their future in the process.

The only players I can think of that actually put their foot down was Elway, Eli Manning and La'el Collins who threatened to sit out the season and re-enter the draft if any team took him after the 3rd round.

I'm quite shocked more players don't do their research or take the guidance of their Agents on what teams to avoid.

Agreed, though agents prefer to string teams along because it'll increase the bidding for their clients. So the intel doesn't always help.

Yes, I remember watching hard knocks with the giants. Joe Scheoen and Dan Morgan at the Panthers seemingly had already had draft deals coming together the NFL combine.

My recollection is that a lot of these deals get worked out in theory so they can pull the trigger during the draft, if both teams agree.

Got it! I'm sure like anything else. Most deals are already made but get finalized during the draft?

I'm sure there are lots of deals in principle that never actually get made, too.

Rumor has it that Drake Maye needed an extra suitcase to store the intel he learned at the Pro Bowl.

Was that from Dakota in Braintree or the cheese?

La'el Collins who threatened to sit out the season and re-enter the draft if any team took him after the 3rd round.
Had forgotten about him... really unique situation there.
