And the little consistency there was goes to **** because it's a bunch of refs that haven't worked together. Give me a good crew that has worked for at least the whole season together.
The NFL's stance is that if you have good refs, they'll use "good mechanics" and be able to call a good game. I know there's a lot of people pissed about the Dez Bryant call or the Cribbs call but by how the rule is written, they got it right (eventually).

Mike Carey looks like an idiot, though. Can't believe that guy did Super Bowl 42. I know @Joker loves the man.

If I remember right this guy is not half bad. But yet again they way this season has been going who knows. Once again all I ask for is consistany.

Ok so what do we know about this guy?
Went to football focus to see how the pats made out when he reffed our games. Since 2003 when he was a ref and not a line judge, he has reffed 14 of our games. We are 12-2 when he has been the ref including an afc championship game in 2005 against the steelers. He didnt ref any of our games in the 2008, 2009, 2012 seasons. He also reffed the pats vs broncos game and miami game this season. So overall pats are 12-2 when he is the ref and this season, we are 1-1 when he is the ref.

Didn't think Vinovich was terrible against the Ravens. He basically let them play, which I prefer. Both Revis penalties were obvious.

Who knows because it is an all star crew. None of these guys worked together before. Or at least most of them haven't.
Now a days i don't think there is any "all stars" when it comes to refs, they all seem to stink.

Who knows anymore. I was pretty happy when we got Vinovich but that crew sucked, though I can't necessarily blame Vinovich directly.

That's the problem: we can't judge whether it's gonna be a well called or poorly called game just based on the fact Walt Anderson is gonna be out there. The rest of the crew is a hodgepodge of blokes with varying concepts of the "spirit of the rules" and all probably have their own interpretations of "points of emphasis".

TL;DR it's a crapshoot in the playoffs no matter who you get.

For a second I was thinking Walt Coleman.

The greatest ref to ever put on the stripes.

Free at last. Free at last. Thank Walt Coleman we're free at last.

Don't worry kids. I got this one from my couch......

Ok so what do we know about this guy?

I seem to recall his crew threw a lot of flags against the Pats in the first Miami game, but then again this isn't his crew so who knows?

This is what it's come to. Worried about officials, and with good reason. Being a life-long avid Celtics fan going back to the 60s, I always worried about what refs we would have for playoff games and I always thought to myself thankfully that's never much of an issue with the Pats. Well, it is these days.

Whoever was the called the offensive holding calls certainly let them play, given there wasn't one called. And even while Jones was being mugged a lot, I personally prefer that way.

But my problem is that while Revis' holding call and PI were technically fouls, they weren't "necessary", in that they neither affected the receivers ability to get to the ball. On the PI, his hand was on his chest, but wasn't keeping him from going for the ball. In a sense I blame Revis for this because it was unnecessary since he had such good position. On the hold, not only was it completely away from the play, the way I saw it, the receiver quickly got out of the shirt tug and was unimpaired the rest of the route and available to Flacco had he'd chosen to go to him.

The frustrating factor was that when you put these fouls against the numerous non-calls that the Pats were getting, it made the officiating seem very one sided. Especially when the only call against the Ravens in the passing game was a bad call, IMO.

If the Revis PI was PI then so was the one by the Packers DB on the Dez Bryant "catch" who did the exact same thing.

A bit of consistency would be nice.

More obvious than the Gronk non-call?

that was a bad call. When you find a game that is officiated 100% perfectly, please dvr it and invite me over to watch, cause I'd love to see it.

Revis PI was bs should have been PI on Smith pushing them out of field goal range.
