INITIAL ANALYSIS
The 2016-2017 won the Super Bowl, and given its youthful players is talented enough to win again. Obviously, we always want to improve.

THEREFORE FOR 2017
If we re-sign or replace each of our free agents, then the job would be essentially complete. The team would be, and should be, a favorite to repeat. Obviously, if any of our players under contract are cut, they also need to be replaced, often by draftees.

FOR THE FUTURE
We always need to look to the future, as well as to the coming season. IMHO, we need youth for the future at DE, LB and DT.

AND WE
only have $60M or so of cap money to work with.

ONLY ?????

Compared to other teams...we have an abundance of cap space......AND we don't have very far to go to maintain dominance in the NFL........

Nice summary.

With Brown, Valentine, and Flowers (on passing downs) playing on the inside, isn't that enough youth for the future at DT? Shouldn't we augment those three with vets, rather than more youth?

And I'd add youth at OT, where I think we are going to run into trouble soon if this year's FA or draft class add a solid swing guy who is at least a medium quality starter if called upon.

My understatement alarm went off here; I think he was making a point with mild sarcasm. Maybe I'm wrong.
