- has same agent as Jackson - their agent says unlikely to hold out
Don't know about Jackson but Mincey's a 6th round pick - holdout shouldn't even be a word in his vocabulary.

Sound like he self promoting article quoting no one from the patriots side except his agent,.

a gotta take it in context. He's being interviewed and the reporter says, "You're not signed yet - any chance of a holdout?"

If he doesn't answer the question, that is news, as in, "As yet unsigned Mincey refused to comment on whether or not he'd hold out if he didn't get the right terms in his contract."

If he does say that he intends to sign and will be in camp, he gets the Who-the-heck-does-he-think-he-is-to-even-comment-on-holding-out treatment.

Lose-lose for him, but I'm guessing that he'd rather have the latter being said.

Right, I had no problem at all with what he said. I was just commenting that a holdout with him is not happening.

Sounds like just a polite kid whose just answering questions as best he can. I'm really rooting for this kid. I hope he sticks. He's got the physical, but can he get the mental?

If he can grasp the system, then after a red shirt year or two, he should be able to contribute some in the base defense. Can he help on Special teams???? That, barring injury, is probably his best chance to get on the field this year.

I saw a couple of Florida games last year and he did nothing to remind me of Willie. I wasn't looking hard at him, so I may have missed something.
The good news is that his competition is Peirre Woods and he is a classic underachiever.

PS: In one of those Florida games I saw, Chad Jackson dropped a deep pass after he got behind the South Carolina secondary. Let's hope he got that out of his system.

:yeahthat:

Mincey sounded humble admitting to being out of his depth at minicamp while practicing with the likes of Vrabel, Colvin, and Co. Whether BB thinks Mincey's admission is a sign of weakness is another issue, but at least I was impressed.

One thing Mincey has going for him is that he's been through the stops before, see, a lot of these guys coming to the pros were highly recruited to big D1 schools like Florida and have been pampered by coaches, to the professors, and most of the boosters throughout their collegiate careers. Mincey, however, had to work his way to the top of Urban Meyer's program. BB has to respect that.

My Hula Bowl summary on Mincy: Jeremy Mincey DE 6-4 265 Florida also was strong off the edge with good containment and three credited sacks.

I highlighted what I thought was his strongest selling point.

Glad you saw that, Tex !
I hope it's correct.

This was my favorite part:

One thing he's isn't going to do is buy a motorcycle and speed around Route 1 without a helmet on.
"I want nothing to do with motorcycles," Mincey joked. "I'm scared just seeing those things. I just think of all the bad things that could possibly happen."

Well Branch dropped a deep one, wide open against Jacksonville. Branch always makes those catches, how could he drop a long pass....well ***** happens, everyone drops a few passes.

Great point, and all the more reason to root for him in my opinion. What's the football term to describe a guy like this? A mudder? A mucker? I forget.:bricks:

Anyhow, a big guy with 4.6 speed, he should be able to contribute on special teams.(hopefully) And we need all the help we can get there!

Excellent point. 2 years in KS probably helped his maturity as well.
He must have wanted it real bad to go out there and suck it up for 2 years to get his grades/abilities where they needed to be.
