I swore I'd never get a dog again after the last one. That's the only problem, you know somewhere in the 10-12-16 year range it's going to happen. We use a product that comes in a small jar called "Musher's secret." Apparently, they claim that they use it for dog's paws in the extreme cold for dog races, etc. So far, so good.
Unfortunately, our wonderful German Shepard in this avatar pic was diagnosed with cancer last week--so things have been quite sad for our family at the moment. Feels like I'm losing my best buddy.
Close. He's a Flat-coat retreiver (basically a black Golden) Border mix. Super sweet and great around kids. I had a BC/Collie mix as well. About 40 lbs. sucker could fly. He got out one day when I drove to work. I was doing 40 and looked in my mirror and there he was-gaining on me! I had to stop and of course he jumped right in. I got the sad puppy eyes when I brought him back home.Looks like the Border Collie/****er mix I grew up with in your sig.
Yes, in a way you are. We just said goodbye to our 14 year old a few weeks ago and it is still a bit raw.
As has been pointed out, there are certainly some bad dog owners. That said, there are many good pet owners out there as well. A good dog owner understands that providing for a dog means more than just giving the dog food and taking it out to poop. It means that you train the dog properly, socialize them early and provide plenty of stimulation and exercise.Clearly the dog lovers get butthurt more than most whenever they get criticized for their poor pet ownership responsibilities. Typical.
The OP created a thread lauding our QB for his charitable work with animal shelters, and you come along and hijack it with your non-sense.Clearly the dog lovers get butthurt more than most whenever they get criticized for their poor pet ownership responsibilities. Typical.
I was only funnin about your dog's "hands". Those light-weight frisbees suck even in a moderate wind while the heavy ones can hurt your dogs teeth. That's why I use the Sonic Disc Flyer. It is heavy, but semi-soft, so it performs in wind and doesn't hurt their teeth. Just make sure you get the "large" one as the others are too small for your dog. They're on the expensive side, so you'll probably want to use a couple so you don't have tug-of-wars with them between throws. They're also sorta porous so it takes some effort to keep them clean.
One of my Border Collies was half Aussie. They are sweet dogs, but are a lot of work. Does your Aussie ever smile?

I'm willing to bet that you've never owned a Golder Retriever......with a personality more pleasant than a majority of the people in this world.........
I know the video is not a Golden but the same family and it makes a point.....
Guys, we may be judging this all too quickly.
I'll be honest here. Pitbulls, Dobermans and Rotties have nothing on my dogs. I'm not sure how many people realize this but Jack Russell Terrier is one of the world's most dangerous breeds credited with many incidents of aggression. While smaller in stature, the JRT is capable of unimaginable acts of raw aggression, as I will demonstrate below.
First, let's take a look at the JRT in viciously patrolling it's natural habitat:
See how the viciousness of the gaze keeps all foes at bay?
And here we have a couple of JRTs stalking this innocent child as their prey:
Note the demonic eye glare. JRTs use this superpower just before they attack to strike fear into their victim's hearts and render them unable to fight back.
And finally, a fearsome brute, best not to get your hands too close to this one:
That is quite a maw. I know I'd think twice about coming to close to this vicious animal.
I think these horrifying photos stand on their own and provide insight into the fearsome world of dog aggression.
I hope the kid survived this attack, this is truly horrific! How did these creatures get into your house? Help spare us the same fate!
The child did survive but it was a close call.
Woefully, I was lax with my home security and they infiltrated us by pretending to be adorable. Now they force us to do their bidding, whether it be walks, rope-throwing or ham delivery. Don't let this happen to you! Stay strong!
For thousands of generations, dogs have been bred to be "man's best friend"
It's too late, this pair of savages has already infiltrated my home, they aren't biters, no, they're much more clever.
They are experts at positioning themself between you and your destination without you noticing in an effort to trip you, they prefer you are carrying items such as boiling water or sharp knives, maybe expensive place settings.

Our family collie/aussie got "lost" one day. We got a call that she was herding several [wild] children on a street corner. We show up and there is about 6 children dressed in goloshes and rain coats with one in particular in a white fleece jacket. While waiting for the school bus, Anna had found them and had huddled them all up in a tight pack (found out afterwards that she had pushed the mildly apprehensive kids where she wanted them with her nose) and was circling protectively around them.
At no point in their lives were those children safer from wolves than at that moment.
Where's the humanity?
