I have to admit
I'm feeling better.
Feeeling better
All the time.

I think of it this way, Would you rather be worried about the defense needing to improve or the offense? If there's one side of the ball that has been the model of consistency, regardless of personnel, it's been the offense.

It will get figured out and we're a couple people returning from stabilizing the OL. With this defense, the offense doesn't have to be top notch and I have no doubt they'll be top 10 anyhow.

The offense is doing fine. It hasn't been smooth and appears to be uncomfortable/choppy/inconsistent compared to most of Brady;s playing years. But, instead of saying let's see what the D looks like by thanksgiving, we're saying it for the offense.

That and 6-0 feels like first world problems. If the Patriots aren't the dominant team in the AFC, then no team comes close.

Anybody read Bedard's trashing of the offense, and have any comments on it?
  • Mason is playing nearly as badly as he did as a rookie. The worst OL of the bunch. Plus...
  • Karras' inability to get out in front of running plays is a big problem, plus
  • No fullback, plus,
  • No blocking from TE, plus
  • no speed on the outside, equals
the worst Pats offensive performance he's seen in a long time. He's very pessimistic, because even with trades, you could only fix one or two of those problems.

I'd say the analogy is like dieting. Losing weight is the basic difference betwen calories taken in and calories expended. Net negative and you lose weight, net positive and you gain weight.

The offense basically has to score more points than the defense gives up. So even if the offense is slightly better than average, they will, in general, be doing fine because the defense is stout and stingy.

Maybe it's not the same as year's past, doesn't mean it can't get there and it honestly doesn't even have to. Maybe I trust Josh, Dante, and BB too much but i'm feeling great about this team. Love feeling great when the D is out there and have no worries if we need to rely on them to make a stop.

If it were me I would rather my team have it’s “struggles” during the soft tissue part of the schedule so they can correct the flaws if possible in time for the contenders.

I prefer for them to struggle early rather than peak to soon. I can’t recall a year, maybe 2004, when we were dominant all year and won the SB.
