OK, really, how many "families of four" go to football games? And anyone shelling out for all those concessions/incidentals INSIDE the stadium DESERVES to get fleeced. :bricks:

Yeah. I have that large of a family, but two of my boys are the only ones that care about football. I make them buy their own beer if they drink at the stadium, but they seldom do. We eat before the game. We never buy stuff at the stands. I'm too thrifty.

I don't buy anything in the stadium but beer, usually 2 beers. So, it isn't really that bad, just the money for the tailgating supplies, parking and tickets.

While it does cost a lot, there is nothing like being there in person, to me anyway. You are stuck with the price of the tickets and parking, but can avoid the cost of everything else by bringing food/drink from home and tailgating. Skip the programs too - they are mostly a bunch of advertisements. Keep your tickets as the souvenier.

How much is parking?

Good to know that the Pats tickets' resale value is the highest, which according to the article is what really matters.

Also good to know that the Jets are nowhere on that list .

The Jests are the highest!?!

Mods, please merge this thread with the 2012 Jets suck thread.

Lol!!! True to your handle -nice OBSERVATION

after 120 games or so in my life........ I'll take the couch

I've only been to about 4 games in the past 4 years and I'm in the same boat. I'll never forget my experiences going to the games, but after a mile and a half walk to sit in a seat the size of a highchair with freezing wind whipping around all I could think about how much more comfortable the game would be at home. Miami fans don't know how good they have it

Big screen high definition TV and surround sound system FTW! Plus no lines for bathrooms, no commuting, my choice of cut of steak or whatever I want to grill that day, all I can drink, my Ipad (so I can follow the game threads which are so much fun ) and comfy couch. Can't beat that.

Exactly. As much as I love watching the Pats live, I simply cannot afford it.

Cant understand how the avg cost when Jets($629) are the home teams is 37 dollars more than when the Giants ($592) are at home

Maybe they factored in the inevitable drunk and disorderly fine.

Perspective: "Miami fans don't know how good they have it"? September in Miami = 90 degrees, high humidity, frequent showers.....all to watch your team more likely than not lose. Exactly how is that having it good?

The "family of four" premise is a misplaced point of reference. While it is not impossible to hear the words, "Honey, go put little Joey and little Janey in the car. We're all going to the Patriots game!" I suspect it isn't representative of the typical NFL stadium patronage groups. It's Hank, Steve, Lisa and Mike each putting up a 100 to a 150 bucks to go to a game. And while that isn't chump change, it isn't a bad value given the event. I went to a Broadway show recently -- try the family of four premise with that (I'd rather have been at the Patriots game)! Try the family of four premise for a day at Disneyworld. Or for a top concert event, or a top of the lone steakhouse. The difference is you can't watch Disneyland, the concert or a Kobe bone in prime cut with a bottle of Seavey Cab on TV (well one can see it on TV but you get the point). The NFL has largely priced themselves out of the average family of four scenario.....and rightfully so. The NFL delivers top notch entertainment (especially if you are a Patriots, Steelers, Indy fan versus a perennial bottom dwellers). Their charge to watch is, imho, fair given the entertainment value of the content.

For some strange reason, I found it easier to attend games in the old place

$40-$50 depending on how close you are to the stadium. It's not cheap, no doubt, but Patriots games are my one vice (well, one of a few )
