iM SORRY BUT THE COLTS DID'NT HAVE THE CROWD THAT WE WILL HAVE IN THE DOME ON MNF (WE ARENT QUIET), NOR DO THEY HAVE AS MANY WEAPONS WE HAVE...WE HAVE 3 LEGIT RBS THAT CAN BREAK 1 ANY TIME...WE HAVE WAYYY MORE WRS THAN THE COLTS...YOU WILL FACE A WAYYYY BETTER SECONDARY THAN THE COLTS..DARREN SHARPER WILL BE BACK THERE LURKING AND YOU ALSO GET TO BE THE 1ST TEAM TO SEE OUR NEW ADDITION FORMER RAVENS CB CHRIS MCALLISTER THAT WE SIGNED LAST WEEK AND WE ALSO RESIGNED MIKE MCKENZIE...2 SOLID VETS...SO DONT COMPARE US TO THE COLTS

We won't. The Colts have younger, faster CBs, not off the street outa the league vets.

Another point, you can't put 8 WRs on the field at once. Trust me, you can't.

And as to RBs, here's a heartbreaker. There's only one ball. Really. I'm not kidding.

LMAO at this post. Really had me in stitches!

4. Stop the Run. The Saints have too many weapons to shut down. But they've been running for over 150 yards per game. That's too much, in addition to Drew Brees. The Pats need to slow the Saints running attack and make them beat us in the air. Then they become more one-dimensional. If the Saints can run at will, then it will be a long day for the Pats defense. The Pats slowed NY's league-leading rushing attack last week, so they can do it.

Great post - I agree with each #, except for the above. I think priority #1 has to be stopping the passing game. While I respect the Saints running attack, its the passing game that poses the biggest threat.

This should be a classic "bend, don't break" game for the Pats defense. In fact, I can see them getting run over...until the field shrinks. Similar to an Indy game, we'll play the pass heavily and use a nickel or dime defense as our base D. We'll keep McGowan near the LOS b/c he'll likely cover Shockey anyway, so we'll still have 7 or 8 in the box most plays, it'll just be a lighter group.

But we'll focus on stopping the big plays through the air, give them the running game, and if and when they get into the red zone, tighten up and try and hold them to field goals. Which puts a lot of onus on our offense to score when they get red zone opportunities. Really, I see this being very much like an Indianapolis game, save for the fact that I think Manning is better than Brees, while the Saints might be a more balanced team overall than Indy.

I've always been a big Brees fan. He's noted like Brady and Manning, for being a serious film student and hard worker. That said, he's not Manning with his phenomenal accuracy that can most often place the ball to a wideout you'd consider covered.

Can't take a quarter off in this game, a troubling characteristic of this team this season against strong opponents. Fortunately, the 2009 D has physical Bodden, who should play Colston. And McGowan who needs to cover the Redneck at TE.

I agree with those postulating a 3-2-6 on passing situations. We have the playahs with a corps of fast safties. But the blitz has to come from one or occasionally more of the 6.

This would be a great time to discover the 2009 running game and eat some clock. Love to see special teams do something special this year too.

Why are the Saints fans acting like they're playing the Rams (cough: who they beat by 5: cough) again this week??

I love that they think this game is going to be a joke......

he will just fly over you

That's 18 feet right there boyeee!

we only signed 2 vets....2 solid vets at that ..and i know you arent talking ...you are a pats fan...the pats always sign 35 yr old players...i.e junior seau, ect

they arent even our starters....darren sharper is the oldest player in our secondary and he will be defensive mvp this year..so u obviously dont know much

Always? Thats a pretty misinformed statement. Go back and look at the Pat's roster transactions.

You be eating too many beer-battered crawfish there son?

Sounds like Reggie Bush is The X-Factor then huh .............because if you send a safety or lb out to help on colston....bush will expose you in the flat .....we have too many weapons ...and i didnt even mention te david thomas playing well also

You just get Mayo or Guyton to spy on Bush when he is on the field. Simple as that. It's not like he is going to be on the field every down.

Nickels and dimes, that's what the Saints offense will see, and apart from Colston, everyone else will be played man to man to shut them down with McGowan and Sanders alternating on who goes over the middle (Shockey, Bush, etc.) while Chung will help out as well, but he will also be part of the blitz to get in the face of Brees.

And I'm just saying that if Brees does choose to throw it to Colston with Bodden on him and Meriweather over the top, guaranteed interception.

Unfortunately this game comes at a bad time.

All the kiddies have most of the week off from school and the trolling is going to get way out of hand.

What happened to LadiesMan217? I saw his post, went to reply and its gone......wow that was quick, he didn't even make it to double digit posts

I thought I'd give this one a whack. My 5:

3. Red Zone Execution. This is perhaps the biggest key, on both sides of the ball. The Saints defense gives up yards and points, but makes big plays and is 5th in red zone defense. The Pat's offense ranked 25th in red zone efficiency going into the Jets game. Conversely, the Pats defense rank 2nd in PPG but 28th in red zone defense.

IMO, this is the most concerning head to head aspect of this matchup. Field goals, interceptions and fumbles won't get it done this week.

Well, they're not doing their fanbase any favors. Not even the Jets fans talk this much trash. At least the Saints have the kind of team that could back up the talk.

He had homework before band practice.

the fact that the Ravens, whose current cornerbacks are terrible didn't want to bring C-Mac back should tell you Saints fans all you need to know about him

I hope Chung is ok to play on Monday. I really like the idea of him blitzing up the middle on Brees. We need to limit the time he has to go through his progressions with so many weapons at his disposal.

Me too. Pats may be deploying him quite a bit as McGowen will be respnsible for making sure Shockey doesn't roam unnoticed in the secondary.
