Don't know if we'll take him (I hope we do) but there's a real good chance Michicgan monster LT Jake Long will be there at the SF pick. Poor 49er fans, there can be nothing worse than a horrible season with no high #1 at the end of it.
I just think it would be a major FU to the league if the Pats had to give up a pick for the camera crap and all the flack that followed, just to have a top pick anyways.
I think they might trade down anyway - and pile up other picks.

Felger phrased it well last night - paraphrased - "they'll trade it down for two #1s and say to the league - you can take away a #1 and we still have two - we're that good".
The road games are: Sea, Ari, Car, and Clev. It would seem that at least 3 of those would be losses.
The home games are: SL, Minn, Cinn, and TB. It would also seem that at least 3 of those would be losses.
Hey, even if they win 3, and go 5 and 11, the pick will definitely be top 10. I never saw this happening, but that's why I'm an engineer, and not an NFL GM.

Mike Nolan is beginning to "hear footsteps" so to speak in the SF Bay Atea for his job. Not that they have anyone else ready to step up unless it's Mike Singletary. The problem is obviously offense, however.
I never root for injuries, but I'm all for the 49ers completely tanking. If the result of this injury is that they have an even tougher time winning, so be it.
